Ted Cruz: Donald Trump is ‘scared to debate’
Washington Times ^ | March 17, 2016 | David Sherfinski

Posted on 03/18/2016 9:07:24 AM PDT by reaganaut1

Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas says GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump is scared to debate and that Mr. Trump looks down on voters, counting on them to believe whatever he tells them.

Mr. Trump, citing a prior commitment to speak at a policy conference hosted by the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), said Wednesday he would not be attending the GOP presidential debate that had been scheduled for March 21 but was ultimately cancelled.

“His excuse is silliness, and it reflects his assumption that he thinks the voters can’t figure out that he’s not telling [them] the truth,” Mr. Cruz said on Wednesday evening’s “The Kelly File” on Fox News.

Mr. Cruz pointed out that the conference hosted by AIPAC is a multi-day event — it runs from Sunday to Tuesday — and Mr. Trump’s schedule would likely have been accommodated.

“He chose to speak right in the middle of the debate [because] he’s scared to debate,” Mr. Cruz said.

“And, you know, he just, he looks down on the voters,” Mr. Cruz said. “He thinks they’re gullible and will believe whatever he’s saying. So I’m going to be in D.C. for AIPAC as well since Donald is running away from the debate. I’m happy to debate him there. If he wants, we can debate foreign policy, but the problem is, Donald doesn’t do very well in foreign policy [because] he doesn’t have even a basic modicum of knowledge.”

Mr. Cruz said he’s happy to debate Mr. Trump in Utah, where the Fox News debate was to be held, or Washington, D.C., or anywhere else.

Cruzers wrap themselves in the Constitution like they personally own it. It belongs to America, not just to Cruz and his peeps.

The way they use it is revolting.

No more debates. There have been 12. Donald participated in 11. No reason for debates anymore. They are a waste of time. Cruz refuses to answer questions like Cuba and instead talked about Donald. Cruz is horrible in debates.

"He thinks they're gullible and will believe whatever he's saying."

They *are* gullible. Too much TV and too little logic.

Roaring Don has won 37% of the total vote by clawing way ahead of the pack and winning 75% of the media’s attention. I see him starting to use the same tactic against Clinton. Most women do not like him although most younger women are not that fond of Hilary, either.

Interesting: If it is Trump versus Clinton, I think it will be the first time that we have had to choose between two people so old. Trump will be 70 and Hilary is not far behind.

I9 saw one cruz supporter on this thread state why not have a one on one debate. Er so Kasich does not have a Constitutional right now when cruz and his supporters are concerned?

We are not having a one on one ,. because there are 3 guys left and instead of keep saying the tired old crap of don’t vote for them, vote for me or Trump is screwed to debate when he;s already had 12 debates shows how desperate cruz has become and how some of his supporters have become unhinged.

Trumps illiterate speaches are shocking to me. If it was not for the press controllers of the “debates” and massive focus on Trump the guy would not have a chance.

Of course in the actual election the presstitutes are for Clinton. The results will be interesting, Will the Lynch mob get bored and go back to reality TV without the incitement when the fawning switches to the woman candidate?

Is there a limit on the boob tubes power over boobs?

Trump is the frontrunner, Cruz has no real chance of winning, and Kasich has no chance at all, so why should Trump waste his time with either one of them, particularly when he knows that it would be just another attempt by FOX to derail his campaign?

Eminent domain is legal. Being POTUS when you are not a NBC is illegal.

Hey Ted, Trump has no need to debate you.

You are toast.

Hillary is his opposition now.

BEG HIM to put you in his administration somewhere. That’s your only hope now.

That dog don’t hunt, Senator Cruz.

Mr. Trump is fearless.

Voters are sick of debates!

So if cruz is still well behind and still failing to win counties in swing states, and not winning states then shall we have another 3 after the 3 you want.
Shall we just keep going and going , until we run out of time. Hey how about a debate every day for you if that is the only way cruz can get any traction, not that he has after 12 debates.

And Cruz doesn’t answer questions. His Cuba question never answered. His torture question never answered. Why bother. The voters vote for who they want and clearly it’s for trump. Cruz is just mad he only one three primaries. He lost 6 out of 6 contests on Tuesday night. Anyone else who be asked to leave. This Tuesday he will lose Arizona and win a few delegates in Utah. Not a good strategy for Cruz. He is desperate.

These ‘debates’ are childish FoxNews advertising and hit pieces. Trump has been there and cleaned Cruz’s clock more than once.

So let us watch a debate between a true constitutional conservative and an authoritarian progressive populist. Certainly we should learn more about the substance and policies of this new authoritarian progressive populism movement.

“The next debate should focus on the Constitution.
I think Donald needs the extra time to read it.”

Well, maybe. I know I certainly do.

But I think the folks occupying the capital building could use a refresher course before Donald or I.

“Besides, we’re not voting for debate team champions.”

Excellent point!

Ted thinks being part of a college debating team is being presidential. We want someone with adult leadership and experience that he just hasn’t got.

This whole debate strategy by the establishment reminds me of the Florida recounts for Gore. If we keep trying it “over, and over, and over”, maybe we can squeak out one favorable result and stick with that result for eternity. Yes, that’s the ticket! All we need is ONE favorable result, then we can re-use it “over, and over, and over” on the TV until November.
