Ted Cruz: Donald Trump is ‘scared to debate’
Washington Times ^ | March 17, 2016 | David Sherfinski

Posted on 03/18/2016 9:07:24 AM PDT by reaganaut1

Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas says GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump is scared to debate and that Mr. Trump looks down on voters, counting on them to believe whatever he tells them.

Mr. Trump, citing a prior commitment to speak at a policy conference hosted by the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), said Wednesday he would not be attending the GOP presidential debate that had been scheduled for March 21 but was ultimately cancelled.

“His excuse is silliness, and it reflects his assumption that he thinks the voters can’t figure out that he’s not telling [them] the truth,” Mr. Cruz said on Wednesday evening’s “The Kelly File” on Fox News.

Mr. Cruz pointed out that the conference hosted by AIPAC is a multi-day event — it runs from Sunday to Tuesday — and Mr. Trump’s schedule would likely have been accommodated.

“He chose to speak right in the middle of the debate [because] he’s scared to debate,” Mr. Cruz said.

“And, you know, he just, he looks down on the voters,” Mr. Cruz said. “He thinks they’re gullible and will believe whatever he’s saying. So I’m going to be in D.C. for AIPAC as well since Donald is running away from the debate. I’m happy to debate him there. If he wants, we can debate foreign policy, but the problem is, Donald doesn’t do very well in foreign policy [because] he doesn’t have even a basic modicum of knowledge.”

Mr. Cruz said he’s happy to debate Mr. Trump in Utah, where the Fox News debate was to be held, or Washington, D.C., or anywhere else.

Hey, VanDeKoik I’ll send you my address and you can come and make me shut up ok? Your guy sounds like a retread of Ross Perot “Larry, Larry, we have to look under the Hood”.

I’m not going to argue what YOUR view point is.
Here is the fact. We have had 12 debates for crying out loud, so how many more do you frigging want?

Ted Cruz: Donald Trump is ‘scared to debate’

That might have worked if there had been one or two debates and Trump didn't show. But it seems as if there have been hundreds of debates by now and Trump was at all but one. That doesn't look like he's scared.

Are you aware you sound exactly like Obama cultists (and Obama himself) who kept saying “we won, get over it” like approval from the uneducated validates the correctness of your policies?

I mean, it makes perfect sense. Great, great sense. You wouldn’t even believe how much sense it makes. Perfect sense. I can’t even tell you how much sense it makes.

Sad to see a once-great conservative site polluted with idiots happily falling to their knees for an authoritarian progressive populist.

As heard on Rush: The only difference between Hillary and Trump is that Hillary has bigger hands.

...Lincoln and Douglas agreed to debate in seven of the nine Illinois Congressional Districts; the seven where Douglas had not already spoken.

In each debate either Douglas or Lincoln would open with an hour address. The other would then speak for an hour and a half. The first then had 30 minutes of rebuttal.

In the seven debates, Douglas, as the incumbent, was allowed to go first four times...

Sort of like Al Gore counting votes in Florida. Until he wins and then stop.

“The next debate should focus on the Constitution.”

There is no ‘Next Debate’. Cruz had his shot, he missed.

You nailed it, heights.

I started out supporting Ted Cruz, but now can’t stand him. I even hit the mute button when he starts in with the smarmy nasal whining. Plus, his annoying stutter when he starts some sentences repeating the first word (usually “and”) is a total turn-off.

What was I thinking early on?

Cruz never single-handedly won a case in front of SCOTUS. He has always been part of a team.

I’d like to see how many real estate holdings you have, clown.

Why doesn’t Cruz use the time to do something constructive for OTHER people, like, veterans or maybe hand out more teddy bears at the border?

You may or may not like Cruz but you cannot dispute his depth of knowledge of the Constitution.
LOL! I recall only months ago that BOTH Levin and Trump had to school the most brilliant constitutionalist to ever walk the earth on the meaning of the simple wording in the 14th amendment.

"And, you know, he just, he looks down on the voters".

Hey, Ted. The more you speak, the deeper you sink your campaign into the swamp where those Trump-haters Glenn Beck and Perry live.  So keep it up.

Trump doesn't need another debate to beat you.  All he needs to do is keep repeating one word, "Liar".

BTW, Ted, how's that relationship with the GOPes, Lindsay Graham and Neil Bush GOPes, coming along?  And please tell us again about all the mannnnnnagement experience you have that you can use in the Oval Office.

“Mr. Cruz pointed out that the conference hosted by AIPAC is a multi-day event — it runs from Sunday to Tuesday — and Mr. Trump’s schedule would likely have been accommodated.”

Only an elitist politician talks like this. AIPAC has been scheduled for MONTHS, unlike this recently scheduled FOX debate.

So Trump would have had to force other people to juggle their AIPAC plans in order to make it and then Cruz would have been the first one to say Trump was pushing people around like a bully.

Only Cruz thinks it’s ok to completely upend a previously planned event so that he (Cruz) can get more attention on HIMSELF and his precious PARTY.

What a schmuck.

Personally, that is not my take. The networks will cover Trump anyways Let Cruz go out and get coverage where he can. I think Trump is smart not to give Senator Cruz network face time that he probably will not get on his own.

He could also explain that part of the Constitution that gives him the authority to steal people’s property through eminent domain and give it to his cronies.

I’d like two or three ACTUAL debates. Now that we have the opportunity to do that, one candidate is running away. Two, actually, for whatever Kasich counts as.
