Mitt Romney will campaign with John Kasich Monday at two stops in Ohio, NBC News has learned from a source familiar with the plans.
Romney is not expected to endorse the Ohio governor during the campaign swing, the source said, but it will be the first time Romney has campaigned on behalf of a Republican candidate this cycle.
It's a significant move for the former Republican nominee, who previously recorded campaign telephone "robocalls" for Kasich as well as Marco Rubio.
Earlier this month, at a speech in Utah, Romney lambasted frontrunner Donald Trump as a "fraud" and warned of the dangers to the Republican Party if Trump were the nominee.

He needs a job . . . I agree, that’s what it looks like.
I’m sick of hearing him say “I’ve done that!” a hundred times in every debate. He reminds me of people that can always do you one better on their own experiences.
Ksick looks like he has poop in his depends.
I hope some real protestors show up. If I was anywhere near there I’d show up with some kind of sign about Mitt. And I’d yell a little, too.
Thanks springwater13.
I don’t think you can use the 2012 election as an indicator as to whether this is a good move or not for Kasich.
It’s hard to tell for certain, but as someone mentioned earlier, it may indicate that Kasich isn’t feeling very confident. If he had a strong lead, I don’t think he’d make a gamble with Mitt, especially considering he describes himself as anti-establishment
Can't argue with that.
My thoughts were that the Republicans of Ohio who either voted for Romney or against Obama will likely not take a Romney endorsement as a really helpful thing.
Like you seem to have noted, I think Kasich sees Ohio slipping from his grasp and it pretty much puts him on the losers bench beside Rubio if that happens - he's already out of it, except as a potential "stop Trump" spoiler and I don't think he'll do his career any good if that's where he focuses his energies.
Bwahahaha
I just saw a poll where they are tied and it was from late yesterday. I agree that Kasich is worried. If I lost 110K jobs due to TPP and oil prices, I damn sure would not be pushing a higher sales tax. Hell, we have 9.25 sales tax in Nashville, but; TN has no state income tax.
There’s the death nail for ksick, the fat lady is warming up and it’s all over buy the crying. Another hamfisted attempt to undermine the wishes of the majority. Buh-bye jk.
Would love to know who the fourth musketeers is. Leave em’ laughing or in the case of these losers....just leave
Perfect. Just where you’d expect to find something the country tossed.
I call bs.
Yes. It appears our Senators and Congress critters are on a tight leash controlled by the super PAC’s and the RNC. If these bought and paid for professional do nothings feel a tug on their leash they immediately jump to attention. Somewhere I read they are off some 240 days a year. It seems they rarely work and never finish much.
Kasich has become so liberal I would not want him for a Gov. His “we can’t morally round up 12 million illegals and just send them back” showed me what a lib he is. Those 12 million came here with zip and they have received so much free crap they should kiss the damn ground here before they enter their homeland. If we go to Mexico we can do zip without paying for it.
There should be a drinking game for everytime he says “Ohio” “I’ve done that” or “mailman”.
