Poll: Trump soars to nearly 50 percent in Florida (January Poll Results)

Donald Trump has the support of nearly 1-in-2 Republican primary voters in Florida according to a new Florida Atlantic University Poll out Wednesday.

Trump is leading in the state with GOP primary voters by a significant, 32-point margin, with 48 percent. His nearest rival is Texas Sen. Ted Cruz at 16 percent, and Florida Sen. Marco Rubio and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush are the only others in double digits, with 11 percent and 10 percent, respectively.

Trump’s lead in that survey has been on a rapid rise since September 2015, when he came in at 32 percent, and support for Rubio and Bush in their home state has gradually declined over the course of the past four months. In that September poll Cruz was at 6 percent, Rubio was at 19 percent and Bush held 11 percent of the vote of those surveyed. In November, Trump took 36 percent, followed by Rubio with 18 percent and retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson with 15 percent, who has dropped to 3 percent in the latest poll.

Agreed. I am saddened that so many are taken in by the empty rhetoric, and bullying.

That plus his constant flipping of positions depending on who he's trying to suck up to at the moment, be they hard left politicians or unsophisticated republican voters. And his, at best, dangerously naive view of the Russians and their true/broader agenda in the Middle East and elsewhere. I actually do not think that he is that grossly naive on foreign affairs, but rather in cahoots with Putin in his vision to basically restore the Soviet Union, or something not too much different from it, and, in some respects worse, when you include positions in the strategic resource-rich Middle East.

The Cruzbots show why they shouldn’t be allowed to breed all the time. They are a pathetic group of low IQ cowards.

If all the other candidates get out, there will be enough write in votes to defeat Trump. /s

Most illegals (actually all) get freebies of some kind from their daddy gov despite never paying into it.

It’s going to be interesting to see the balloon finally go up and how many actually go home if the entitlements ever end.

The talking heads still don't get it. In large part, America has figured it out. For the last quarter of a century, WE the Republic, have been denied the choice to say NO to socialism.

It has been a setup. The fix was always in. We, the Republic, have been loosing a war of financial attrition for decades. We, the Republic are engaged in a war with those who govern us. Drastic measures are required to defeat this enemy in order to stop the bleeding that each of us are seeing in the depreciation of our savings, the constant onslaught of taxes, fees, and licenses. Each of them designed to remove our ability to live free.

If a slave is a person who works for no money, then a paid person who works with no money left for savings or investment is therefore a slave.

The Communists are very good at planning each move, they have been at it for over sixty years, to bury us. They are so close to succeeding.

Trump has stepped in and has sensed our rage.We want to throw our shoes into the machinery. We want to turn over the apple carts and toss tea into the harbor. Trump is giving us a voice. He is giving our children and grandchildren a fighting chance of enjoying the life that our parents fought and spilled blood in Europe and Japan so as to impart liberty to ourselves.

No, we will no longer hide in the shadow of political correctness.

No, we will no longer stand idle in the face of the globalist Red Menace.

No, we will not play the game of choosing which Socialist will rob our children.

No, we will not play the game of choosing which Socialist will import an army of decapitating, lawless, savages into our home to eradicate Freedom and the American Way.

ANY and EVERY politician who will not build a wall is declaring he/she DOES NOT CARE IF YOU DIE!

I do not think Trump is a conservative.

I do not think Trump is morally pious and pure.

I do not think Trump is void of indiscretions or mistakes.

I do believe that any candidate that is a true conservative, morally pure, pious, and has walked the straight and narrow...would not stand a chance against the the globalist red menace that is systematically deconstructing our nation.

No, far from it.

Right now we need our own paladin of chaotic malice with a depraved sense of overly vengeful justice that will stand not for giving quarter. Right now we need our own Son of a Bitch glorious bastard, faults and all. We need to stomp out the treachery of political correctness that perpetuates racial discontent and has created Europe-istan, a Nuclear Iran, as well as ushering in a new world order of penniless servitude consisting of the entire earthly population bowing to but a few of the elite socialist megalomaniacs.

We need our own monster.

Ted Cruz may well be as advertised. No one knows. Four years ago, no one knew who he was.

He is young, deploy the Trump Bomb now, it is an ugly weapon of mass destruction that will result in some collateral damage, but it is required.

Alas, we have run out of time.

It will take many Ted Cruz clones to restore order in the aftermath.

Lol! You're so dumb you can't even figure out how to post a reply without those special characters appearing in it. Meanwhile, the problem has been with us for months! Talk about low IQ.

Why would you categorize a one-month-old poll story under breaking news? This poll is meaningless today.

They still have a convention to manipulate in July and don’t put it past them.

They can't stop Trump from getting the nomination if he heads to the convention with more than the required 1200+ pledged delegates needed to secure the nomination. By law, on the first ballot, the delegates MUST cast their vote for whom they are pledged.

If no one has the 1200+ pledged delegates needed, then after the first ballot voting is completed where no one has secured enough votes for the nomination, then the delegates are released from their pledges and free to vote for who ever they wish on the second or subsequent ballots until a candidate has secured enough votes for the nomination.

Up until about a month ago he was leading in the Texas polls, it’s only recently that he has fallen behind Cruz and it’s only a mere 5 points or so.

It’s not over in Texas.

Will Cruz throw in with Trump or Rubio? I’m expecting ALL the establishment folks (including Cruz who needs their $ to run) to go in with Rubio in a last ditch attempts to stop Trump.<\I>

yup. Cruz is establishment. Trump against the world.

If he wins Florida (especially at 50%) he will be the nominee no doubt. (unfortunately)

yeah this is one thing the pundits forget. Once you come out of SC there is a bandwagon effect. A certain % of the undecided will pick Trump simply because he looks like the winner.

Basically it is shaping up to be

Rubio-GOPE candidate who picks up Kaisch/Bush support and tops out around 40%

Trump picks up the Carson “anyone but a politician” support and tops out at 40%

Which leaves the Cruz people as the King makers. Once Cruz is out which way they jump will decided who wins.

LOTS of game time left but at this point it is a whole lot better to be leading rather then following.
