Trump versus Cruz (Saturbray)
www.braylog.com ^ | 2/13/16 | bray

2 Corinthians 1:12 For our rejoicing is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom, but by the grace of God, we have had our conversation in the world, and more abundantly to you-ward.

This is the greatest election ever and it is only just begun. We have the outsiders completing the work the Tea Party had begun and Moscow on the Potomac has no idea what is about to hit them. When you look at the two Parties you have one which is being headed by some old as dirt Leninists who are in a competition of who can make this the Soviet Union before they hit the dirt nap against our socialists who want to give it away less quickly and the Outsiders.

As the only person who predicted Trump and Cruz would be fighting it out six months ago and predicted Trump would win big a month ago it is time for the explanation why. Both Trump and Cruz would win against Sanders after he beats Hillary for a few reasons. The first is America is ready for a real change and have had their eyes opened from the Obama Depression. Cruz would win on Ground Game and Trump will win with his media wars and in this case Trump will be the nominee in a sweep across the country.

Since Trump and his supporters are universally hated by both the liberal and Conservative Punditocracy it is time an explanation is given why his movement see him as the superior candidate. As a fundamental Christian we do not care if the candidate is holy enough, we appreciate that he only respects us and is able to articulate basic conservative ideas. We have all worked with people who have a spicy language and especially in the construction industry so most of us overlook it whether we use those words or not.

The main issue we like is his dedication to the wall. Until the wall is built there is no point in talking about deportation since there is no real deportation without that wall. After it is built or at least the border being shut while construction occurs then it is simply grandstanding using the usual amnesty cliches with no solutions. Trump is the first one and most likely the only one who is serious about building it and the rest will never get it done.

His second largest issue is taking on Political Correctness. He has rolled back the PC mafia at least five years which is highlighted by his saying illegal aliens need to be deported as well as a moratorium on allowing Mooselimbs into our country and stating he does not believe in Global Warming. These are all considered sacrilege to the PC crowd as he tramples on sacred cow after sacred cow. The rest of the candidates only state their nuanced platitudes to straddle the same fence which has surrendered issue after issue. Political Correctness is the biggest club the Marxists have to beat down the opposition into submission and he beats them back to their safe rooms with courage and a sense of humor.

Is he a pure Conservative who knows the Conservative doxology inside and out or a record of marching in lockstep with Rush Limbaugh? No, he is a businessman; who like the ferry operator in the Outlaw Josey Wells, he learned to sing the Battle Hymn of the Republic and Dixie with equal enthusiasm to survive. In New York City if you want to build skyscrapers you have to sing the Battle Hymn more often than Dixie. He does not have the luxury of only donating one direction and irritating the Dems who are very vindictive which will add millions to his costs if he can get permits at all.

He is far more Conservative than all except perhaps Cruz, but he articulates and knows capitalism better than any other person on the stage. It really is not close who knows economics better than anyone on the stage or in DC, period. He is not a socialist and understands capitalism inside and out which is why he articulates it far better than anyone in the country. He did not learn it in the halls of Harvard or discussing it in some think tank, he lived capitalism his entire life in one of the toughest industries on the planet. Capitalism is in his veins which is why his explanations are substantive yet simple enough for America to understand. He is teaching America what capitalism is for the first time in fifty years.

This is why his time is now. After fifty years or more of Americans being told that the only solution to every one of their problems is gummit, it is refreshing to have someone articulate capitalism in a language they can understand. He keeps it simple and hits a couple of highlights without getting into the weeds where he lives with charm and charisma which is spellbinding. This country needs someone who can take this country another direction and Trump has the knowledge, credibility and a very high level of articulation to get that done. Add to that he is likely one of the top five negotiators in the country if not the world and you have a set of skills we have never seen.

From a purely Tea Party attitude and what America is telling the political establishment on both sides we just want to blow it all up. We want to bulldoze DC and watch all of those sanctimonious elites jump into the trash heap. While everyday Americans work hard only to be laughed at, insulted and ripped off they are about to tell these useless, incompetent Marxists to take a hike since we cannot afford you anymore. We need someone with a big "You're Fired" sign and we have just the guy for that.

The biggest reason Trump will win is he is not afraid to get ugly. Republicans have to go against the Three Pillars of Propaganda (media, academia and the DNC) to win. They have two choices, they can win ugly or lose graciously and it is much easier to be gracious. The establishment would rather debate and convince voters through high brow debating societies while the Dems are calling them racist, sexist homophobes. Trump will win ugly which is how this country is going to get fixed.

The establishments on both sides believe politics is fought in a cotillion with high brow discussions about the superiority of the Constitution when in reality it is a knife fight in the mud with no rules. This is where Trump has lived his life and has a room full of heads to prove it. The Pundiots do not want to go there and they certainly do not want to act like they approve of it and get splashed on their pearly white suits, so they vilify and mock to mask their fear of actually having to get their hands dirty. The Conservative pundits would rather lose graciously then win ugly since they too have become the establishment.

Trump will be the nominee. He has pointed his entire life at this moment and has the skills and abilities nobody on either stage has with the courage to say what he and the American people think. It is not pure Conservatism, but it is pure capitalism. Capitalism has not been pure for a hundred years, but capitalists adapt to the draconian rules they have to play by and adapt which Marxism cannot do and he is the master. He will drive the purists crazy since he is going to do what is right in his gut, but in the end they will be based on capitalism which is the basics of Conservatism. He is like the bulldozer that cuts a path through the overgrown trees to begin to build a road back to the rundown City on the Hill. The next guy can pave it after Trump dynamites and builds a road back to America.

Pray America wakes

And it is impossible to use the word charity and wrench it out of what you call “religion.” It is the term that some older versions of the bible use for the kind of love that is uniquely exercised by God, corresponding to the Greek agape.

And like the songwriter said, you have to serve someone. There is no such thing as an atomized freedom.

And you are going to get some kind of baksheesh even from attempts to be independent. The question is not whether you will serve. Man was made to serve and can’t not serve any more than birds can’t not fly. The question is what you will serve.

A seemingly parallel case that involved an Italian chap named Bellei showed that if a man’s citizenship status was granted by an act of Congress effective as of his birth, it could be un-granted by another act of Congress. They can’t name names, to be true, but they can specify classes of people.

Now if I read things right, Cruz did have the additional circumstance of being born on a US Air Force base in Canada. That might change how a court reads it. Maybe a military installation would have some pull in the matter, so to speak.

It’s currently up in the air because we have no authority in the sky as to NBC. It really is a matter of what Caesar’s courts do.

Sorry bray. I’ve made dozens of positive comments about Trump. When the Trump supporters start out a post with “Cruzbots” and you yourself call Cruz supporters “thugs”, reasoned discourse is no longer possible. But you’re fine with the bullshit namecalling—as long as it’s not directed at the sainted Trump. You want to have a Saturday morning circle-jerk with your Friends of Trump? Have at it. And take me off your stupid weekly essay ping list. Your musings aren’t nearly as clever as you think they are.

What exactly has Trump said that is a dealbreaker for you?

Thanks for asking. I was actually on the fence about Trump for several months. You can check my posts to confirm. I was willing to forgive his past praise and support of Democrats because I thought that might have been an expediency to support his business ventures. I thought maybe he had turned the corner and his true conservative nature was coming out. I liked what he was saying about immigration, but a lot of conservatives have been saying the same thing, for a lot longer time than Trump. I thought Trump and Cruz had worked a deal where they wold fight together for the same things.

The deal breaker for me was the single weekend when Trump came out strong against Cruz and Scalia, using the leftist angle each time. This is when Cruz was leading the polls for the first time. It became clear that Trump was not an idealouge for smaller government and more individual freedom. At best he is a moderate, to the left of McCain and Romney. At worst, he is an opportunist who will do and say anything to win.

Then he came out for more NSA snooping ("I'm going to err on the side of safety") and for Kelo (Eminent Domain for crony capitalists, passed by the liberals in the Supreme Court), and in defense of McConnell, I knew I would never be able to support this man.

I would like to debate these issues with fellow conservatives without the name calling and the attempts at personal destruction. Ted Cruz is a good man who is fighting for the things I believe in. When Trump supporters resort to petty attacks on Cruz's name, appearance, wife, children, and Christian faith, I'm going to push back every time. Even if Trumps wins the presidency, I don't think he sees Cruz as a potential ally in the senate. That has me worried - a lot.

IMHO, Trump and Cruz have already made a deal.

Get over it.

Trump has the troublesome tendency to throw gratuitous mud, as you found out. And he should stop that, because otherwise people won’t know what he really opposes and what he’s just angry at today. It wasn’t for no reason that the studiedly equanimous George Washington was named the first president — he’d not jerk you around with his moods.

However sometimes we have to go with something that isn’t ideal, making allowances and reading between the lines, because something better is not at hand. I am cautiously sanguine about Trump, because I’ve seen him come down from his storms time and time again. Perhaps with some further experience he will learn to avoid carrying on that way, as even now he has announced that he is going to switch to positive ads. You’re surely not the other one who has been frightened by the Trump cannon when it seemed to have little or no reason to shoot, and Trump has surely heard about it.

Oh you can keep it the same but you cannot escape the consequences that God brings of espousing willful confusion.

I merely serve to warn.

Have a day in which you learn something.

Good luck reasoning with the TRUMPBOTS. You’ll now be labeled a thug and told to “take a hike.” No discourse allowed, only mutual agreement on how awesome The Donald is may be spoken on this thread. My final post on the stupid bray threads.

At least he isn’t a woos. I can’t stand mamby pamby men like Obama and Cruz. We don’t need them. Trump is Alpha Male and will say what he believes no matter who he offends. That is who we need as President at this time. Maybe after Trump completely overhauls the United States, a weak president like Cruz could be afforded.

Frankly you need to look at the bible too, to find out what the biggest issues are.

Sometimes the left does have valid points of view. Because the plan of God for mankind transcends the political.

Sometimes we have specialized in becoming selfish without a good explanation for it. Lacking a good explanation, some people with larger goals in mind are not going to be convinced.

The argument I would raise to someone like Trump about pan-snooping is that historically quite often the information DOES end up being leaked. If it were securely Trump’s information from now to eternity, that would be one matter. But hackers can make it everybody’s information. So, Trump should not snoop on anything he isn’t willing also to jealously guard.

Cruz is my first choice. He is on the right side of almost every issue and has been his entire life. He has proven that he is willing to fight when no one else will. He is exactly the guy we always said we wanted. To not support him now is to walk back everything we ever said.

Trump is my second choice. He is not a conservative, probably not a Christian, he has been all over the map on almost every issue of importance only finding his conservative principles when he decided to run for office. On those issues he doesn’t care about, he will sell us out down the road, and I think most people recognize that and have factored it in to the total picture.

The total picture is that the number one issue for most people these days is national sovereignty, and they sense that on that issue, if only on that issue, Trump is absolutely firm. He has made that the hill he fights and dies on, and has taken enough flak to let people know he isn’t going to back away.

At a time when our manufacturing is being shipped out of the country, our workers are being replaced in the millions by foreign and often illegal workers, at a time when they are trying to bring jihadists in again by the millions, Trump and Cruz are the only ones running who are absolutely firm on the border, on immigration, and on trade. When Trump said he would send back any Syrians Obama decides to let in, that got my attention; most candidates aside from Trump and Cruz have made it plain that they will not roll back anything Obama has done.

Its sad that Trump mostly argues from ad hominem; it works against enemies who will never vote for you. It doesn’t work when you are throwing mud at people whose support you will want later. Despite all that, he remains my second choice after Cruz. I don’t have a third choice.

Trumpbots, how clever. Did you think that one up yourself.

My post did not have one talking point so I am not going to tolerate after I asked not to start a food fight the Cruz thug tactics. I am fine with discussion, but not idiotic name calling from people who simply want to pound their chests.

I did not slight Cruz in the least and expect the same from you. Good bye you have been removed.
