Donald Trump wins NH, but Jeb Bush has strong night
Tampa Bay Times ^ | 2/10/16 | Alex Leary

Donald Trump stormed back into the national spotlight by winning the New Hampshire primary Tuesday and Democrat Bernie Sanders avenged his narrow Iowa loss to Hillary Clinton.

-snip-

"You've all reset the race," Bush declared to his well-organized supporters. "This campaign is not dead. We're going to South Carolina." As he began to speak in Manchester, television networks switched to Trump's victory address, denying Bush his moment.

Still, Bush earned new life and scored a psychological victory over Florida rival Marco Rubio, who finished fifth, his claim of momentum stunted after a poor debate performance Saturday in which he robotically repeated the same talking points, looking unsettled amid a brutal attack from Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey.

Super Tuesday should hopefully narrow the field.

But the Establishment types falling out hate both Trump & Cruz.

Actually I hoping for Rubio to come on strong in South Carolina but for different reasons than you. I still believe he is the best General Election candidate we have. Jeb is a no, no no.

He might as well have none. What does three delegates buy you? Not even a ringside seat at the convention.

I noticed that after the debate debacle by Rubio, Trump was very careful to be neutral about his prospects when he could have dealt him more pain. He said something to the effect, "well, it might hurt him in the short term, but the long view is important to consider."

I thought it odd at the time. Was Trump viewing him as a VP pick? Did he just want to stay out of it since Christie had crippled Rubio, but Trump's hands were clean?

Now I think he just wants Rubio in the race to torment Bush and keep the votes split, and Trump will finish him off when he's ready.

Looking at how the race in NH shook out, Realistically, Trump couldn't have hoped for more. A resounding victory outperforming the polls, a weak national candidate coming in a distant but clear 2nd. Cruz getting almost no recognition for a good performance (which I think he deserves... I wouldn't have bet on third for Cruz in NH). Bush the new "anointed RINO" trying to sell a 4th place, 11% share as "victory." Rubio severely damaged, but strong enough to continue to drain the establishment coffers.

Really, everything worked perfectly in NH from a Trump perspective.

This will become a 3-way race:

Trump
Cruz
Bush

Bush will be in because of Rubios crash-and-burn, Krispy Kremes inability to do anything but debate, and all other candidates sinking back down into the quicksand, most especially Kasich who is nowhereman with plenty of nothing going forward.

Very true, but Cruz is the second-choice for more voters than anyone. I think Trump has a ceiling of about 45 pct. If it becomes a 2-man race, Trump is vulnerable. Oddly enough, Trump needs Jeb and Marco, LOL.

Trump at the moment is only vulnerable to Trump's own mouth. At some point, it may get him in trouble... and it is startling that it hasn't already (bleeding from places, they're rapists, can kill someone, pu**y, if Ivanka weren't my daughter perhaps I'd be dating her, constant fixation on women's appearance, etc). I'm starting to be surprised at what he can say in public and nobody bats an eye. NOT terribly presidential in my eyes, but I'm old-fashioned. I believe in respecting the office.

I’m not so sure. Kind of depends on how Rubio bounces back after last night. If he bounces back in SC, I will concede that you are right and he is a better candidate then I think.

I understand it is a pro-yeb piece by a pro-yeb POS outfit, but the fact remains, where are the GOPe voters going to go, with no Rubio?

I love Cruz, but he was polling around 11 and he got 11.7. Nothing special yesterday. :(

Jeb spent 60 million to come in 4th while Cruz spent 1/2 million to come in 3rd. No way Jeb!

Really funny, and so true. Bush really should have read this sooner. His political instincts are not very good. He should have listened to his Mother the first time.

So, it’s come to this, Jeb taking advice from a guy who was polling at less than 1 percent, and wasn’t much better in his home state. Jeb would be better off dragging out mommy, than listening to Graham.

I didn't say he over performed the polls. My point was he performed well in a northeastern state where evangelicals hold no influence.

Now he goes south where they do.
