Cruz has 'strongest ground game' in Tennessee, campaign director says

NASHVILLE -- Fresh off GOP presidential hopeful Ted Cruz's Monday night victory in Iowa's caucuses, the head of U.S. Sen. Cruz's Tennessee campaign says it has the "strongest ground game" going in the Volunteer State.

The campaign also sought to provide new momentum here by announcing an additional nine Tennessee legislators who are endorsing the Texas Republican, bringing the total legislative endorsements to 18.

That's "10 more legislators than the next closest GOP candidate," Stephen Siao, Cruz state director, said in an email to reporters. We will also announce a county chair for each of TN's 95 counties, which no other campaign has achieved this cycle, and no GOP campaign achieved in 2012 or 2008.

"We have," Siao declared, "the strongest ground game by far of any GOP campaign in TN."

The list of new endorsements includes state Sen. Janice Bowling, R-Tullahoma, and state Sen. Jim Tracy, R-Shelbyville.

Others are: state Sens. Mark Green, R-Clarksville; Joey Hensley, R-Hohenwald; Frank Niceley, R-Strawberry Plains; Rep. Tilman Goins, R-Morristown, and Rep. Ron Lollar, R-Memphis.

We have elected two of the biggest liberal "Republicans" as senators (Alexander/Corker), whose running interference for Obama is famous. So Cruz should do well here. GOP at the state level is total corrupt establishment insiders. They whip the vote for RINOs. Cannuck Cruz should have no problem in Tennessee, I sadly say. (We're the home of Davy Crockett, Sam Houston and President Andrew Jackson, who put the Federal government national bank out of business for decades, which is one of the biggest factors in US growth and prosperity of the second half of the 19th century and very early 20th century.)

Every Republican politician in Tennessee was a Democrat until the 1960s. There were no Republicans since the end of Reconstruction. Tennessee went 100 years after Reconstruction before electing a Republican governor. That may be part of the source of the RINO infestation of Tennessee. I just don't know.

Alexander and Corker are perfect examples of "conservative when home", then in Washington they are part of the Cartel and Cocktail Party Circuit. They tell the people back home one thing, then do another in D.C. They are perfect examples of why all Professional Career Politicians should be ousted, starting with the office of POTUS.

“If this is the best example of Christian we can show the country, we are in sad sad sad shape.”

Really. You’re so right... if Cruz is the best example of Christian you can show the country, you’re in sad sad shape.

Isn’t one of the Commandments, “Thou shalt not steal”? Another one, “Thou shalt not bear false witness”?

‘hog, yes such things can backfire if not dedicated to God.

Thankfully to God, no a candidate does not need to be perfect for much good from God to be brought through him.

However I see carts being placed before horses. The ground game on knees is nowhere to be heard about, and that concerns me.

In fact, on Facebook, I have seen more kneemails being sent on behalf of Donald Trump. It’s like everyone for Cruz seems to assume he just “has it.”

Heck, I had to look it up! LOL! I never vote early so don’t keep up with it. I like to vote on election day.

Oy! Bernie Sanders! I have a feeling our neighbors, who feel that Obama isn’t socialistic enough, will go for Sanders. Definitely Sanders or Hillary. Doubt if they’ll be too vocal about it as they already feel like turds in a punchbowl here in the Bible Belt.

You ought to watch your own selves if you think Donald Trump and boosters are bad.

And this is sad, because a good showing of Jesus Christ in somebody (doesn’t matter whom) could show worldly socialism up for the sham it is.

I am less critical of socialists than I used to be, even though their formula, godless as it is, leads to disaster. Because they’re at least groping for something that used to be known as characteristic of God. Were it to appear, they might well recognize it.

I must say that i was so surprised that u, of all people, whose posts i always agree with, is supporting Trump. I am perplexed by that and a little saddened, but such is life.

I lived in Nashville for a while. It seemed to me more like “religious show country.” Just enough Christ to season the mix, not enough to transform it more than superficially. I’m seeing more transforming power now where I am (though haven’t yet updated my state in FR) i.e. Omaha Nebraska.

I’d probably be a “successful businessman” if my late father had given me one hundred million dollars.

I am observing what has been going on, on the ground.

To become outwardly Christian is to automatically fall under more divine scrutiny. The fault found by God with King David wasn’t even that he fornicated or finagled a murder, but that he caused the enemies of God to blaspheme.

If you are going to present yourself as the God candidate, you might be wanting to make the gospel attractive.

And I’m not being all doom and gloom on Ted Cruz. The Lord could have more surprises to uncork along the way, things that none of us knew about. But they would inevitably follow the bible pattern. God behaves always according to His promises and warnings.

But I would suggest (1) a better ground game on the knees [do NOT take Ted Cruz’s status before the Lord for granted, as I said folks are praying for Donald Trump right now]; and (2) Ted to think about what would illustrate the generous side of the gospel [perhaps something like tax credits, not just deductions, for charitable donations].

And myself... I am just praying that SOMEBODY would show a gospel character in this race. Which might be the best ground game of all. Carson sounded promising, actually, but he’s almost down in the noise. That could turn almost on a dime, however. There are many slips between the cup and the lip.

Don’t forget Haslam and Sundquist! Sundquist was to the left of Bredsen.

It’s also worth noting that Jimmy Duncan was one of the few Republicans to vote against the Iraq War in 2003.

We’re kind of like South Carolina, our population is staunchly conservative and open liberals are quickly run out of town, but for some reason RINOs flourish in primaries.
