Carson’s 9 percent finish was impressive, given the double digit three way near-tie at the top — and probably bled off votes from everyone behind him. Ben Carson may have just sealed Jeb’s fate in the 2016.
Also, for all that effort, these precinct caucuses are only the first step. Next are the county conventions. Iowa has 99 counties. Delegates to these conventions are based upon the proportionate number of votes each candidate received in the precinct caucuses, if my understanding of the Iowa system is correct. The delegates to the National Convention are a result of process that goes from the precinct caucus to the county convention, to the district convention, and the state convention.
Dr. Carson - He’s a good man who deserves our respect.JMHO, he is too nice to even think about being a politician and because he still seems to be in the race, deserves even more respect. It can’t be an easy task for anyone considering the knocks daily by others running.
If you run these numbers “in reverse” for the general (election), assuming that the Dem candidate will get 66 million votes, then we are looking at something like 16.3 MILLION Cruz team members, and God knows how much money, to give Cruz a comfortable(?) victory with 70 million votes. (I’m assuming turnout will be high.)
Holy crap...
But, the candidate has to get there, first, and most states will be tougher for Cruz than Iowa was.
I wonder if anyone knows how many total Republican primary votes Romney got in 2012?
Not being a politician probably has been a great disadvantage to him.
Getting to the convention will not be like kicking over a set of dominoes. It is hard to imagine Cruz duplicating the effort he put into Iowa.
Take, for example, Super Tuesday will involve 24 states. Unlike Iowa, which only determined the proportional delegates to the 99 county conventions, Super Tuesday will determine delegates to the national convention. How will Cruz handle those 24 states?
You people are nasty, and have neither Grace nor Class.
Congrats to Mr. Cruz. Now on to NH.
Point me to where Jim said he preferred Cruz please.
I'll ask you one more time. What point are you trying to make by invoking Jim Robinson's name? You keep doing it so, WHAT'S YOUR POINT, THEO?
Don't tell me to "guess" like you did last time.
Look in someone's car trunk in Minnesota.
Yep!!!
I just looked through Jim’s comment history. It’s all right there. Here are some examples:
Jim Robinson’s first choice is Ted Cruz:

Agreed - and I have not yet had one Cruz supporter reply to me with ideas on how Cruz sustains this sort of effort, expenditure, etc.
This isn’t meant to be anti-Cruz, either. Given Rubio’s showing in Iowa, Ted may struggle for 2nd in more liberal New Hampshire, blunting his present momentum. Cruz doesn’t want this to be like one of those games where the home team comes out hot in the 1st quarter, then can’t match the other team’s strength.
This is more so once we have a nominee. I figure the Dems will put up at a minimum, a ground game equal to that of Cruz, in the general. They also have the advantage of “the 48%” dependent voters. (More now?) Can a Cruz type personality and message win in a situation where the playing field is basically what it’s been in recent years?
Please Forgive me.
“Trump ... LOST. The arrogant fake Christian lost.”
“Cruz...LOST. The campaign that cheated in IA LOST.
I’m very curious. I’ve seen your post over the last few weeks. The condescending post against Freepers who did not see eye to eye with you and your views on trump.
Now... It is “Way to go! Second place! Yay!”. I’ve bitten my tongue for weeks but... Really???? A day ago, trump was.... Someone you were not a fan of but a fanatic of.Today? -He certainly EARNED that second place!!!! Okay, now that I’ve read my own post, I realize I should have stopped at the word, “Fanatic”.

Now... It is “Way to go! fourth/fifth place! Yay!”

There, fixed it. Now, stop sending me immature, ridiculous posts.
“Trump ... lost. I invite you to dump Trump and support the conservative, Christian candidate. Drop the RINO/CINO.”
Cruz ... lost. I invite you to dump Cruz and support the Natural-Born American, Patriotic Candidate. Drop the CANADIAN/CHEATER.
There, fixed it. Now, stop emailing me hateful, nonsensical posts. Grow up.
Two liberals were at the top of the NH primaries. OK. You got me there. Trump the RINO vulture capitalist, along with a socialist, won the top slots in NH. Congrats on being part of the problem.
Weird post from you. Very mature, as well.
Find me a post where I said Cruz was my man in this race? Show me a post where I gush endlessly like a fanatic about Cruz.
... Speaking of ridiculous post.
