I can see why youâd want a candidate strong on an issue you care a lot about, someone who ignores the accusations of bigotry that so often shut down serious debate on immigration. What I donât get is why you think Trump is going to give you what you want.
After all, four years ago, the guy was an immigration liberal, criticizing Romney for taking an excessively hard line. His positions on other major conservative issues, like abortion, are shamelessly opportunistic.
His enthusiasm for bashing China is somewhat undercut by his enthusiasm for outsourcing the manufacturing of his own products to same. Itâs impossible to say with certainty which way he actually leans on any issue.
But his endlessly convenient opinion shifts, on the very core issues his supporters care most about, ought also to signal that Donald Trump doesnât care about you, either. Heâs against outsourcing and immigration, as long as thatâs getting him votes. But if he can find a different coalition, heâll happily abandon the current one in a flash.

If that was the case , Jeb , Rubio, Cruz , Cristie , and Kasich wouldn’t be in the race ... nice try but fail
And where in the Constitution does it say that “America should have a CEO?”
Where does it say members of the judicial branch (members of the bar) should serve in the legislative branch?
Remember Arnold Schwarzenegger? CA went for the celebrity who turned out to more like a dem than a republican.
Since trump basically made illegal immigration a big issue when no one else wanted to touch it really kind of earns him the benefit of the doubt. Who else would have thought 12 months ago that bringing up the issue, especially in the manner he has, would have been a political winner?
Not the GOPe is sufficient.
Mr. Trump has built his brand on his name. He will do everything humanly possible not to tarnish that or leave his children a legacy less than that of a fighter and winner.
His brand now depends on a wall, fixing our trade and bringing back jobs. He will do his very best to bring that to fruition.
That fortunately for me, aligns with my concerns and he’ll will have my total support. I can see that if we don’t stop illegal immigration, do something about trade deficits and get this country working again, we just won’t have a country.
Every other politician running will not mind not fulfilling their campaign promises. They have said in the past and will easily say again, I tried. I do not trust one of them to put their name and reputation on the line to fix anything. And if they do, their name and reputation to date is that of losers. Why would I expect them to suddenly become winners?
So you think we ought to vote against the person who might put the screws to us and vote for the ones we KNOW will screw us, again...You’re funny...
lol. I know you didn’t mean that to be funny, but how far have dems fallen that your last sentence is true and not a sarcastic comment.
Good Lord.
that guy i saw a few debates back, was a marine, and dropped out. He seemed like a stand up guy who looked like a fish out of water on the debate stage.
Webb? But i heard he voted solid dem when he was in office.
Looked like a man lying to himself about who he was.. heartbreaking
Well so far I have not received a shaming letter from Trump but he did send me a really nice Christmas card. :-)
How can anyone trust Trump is the question being asked here. Yet, we’ve put our trust in the GOP for over twenty years by electing them to control of one or both legislative bodies in congress, and what have we gotten for our allegiance to them? Trust? Trust no one with an R by their name and they reside in DC until they prove otherwise. Of course we’ll all be assuming room temperature before the Republican Party could be trustworthy again.
I won’t have to worry about it because i will be voting for the conservative in the race - Ted Cruz.
I have a high regard for Cruz as an individual and am greatly saddened that his good name has been kidnapped by his so-called supporters - who have also hijacked the term "conservative." And Ted has done nothing about it. In fact with his latest stunt in Iowa he has made it worse.
So, the equation is Cruzzers = conservatives = Cruz = fascist/Stalinist voter intimidation tactics = Cruzzers = Cruz.
I don't know how to break the circle and I won't even try. I will just watch in mourning as the reputation of a decent man swirls down the drain, dragged down by borderline psycho-paths. Because I like Cruz, I think this is one of the great tragedies of this election season.
But there you have it.
“I don’t see how anyone can trust Trump. He should make beach sandals his official footwear.
Maybe, sure he’s a risk, but the alternative is 8 years of Hillary and the end of America as we know it. The rest of these lightweight effeminate boys lack the persona to take on the real opponent, the media. Trump is vulgar, bullying, determined, rich, successful, and mean enough to get the job done. Only other candidate with these traits is Hillary. I’ll take my chances with Trump.
Let me ‘splain it to you.
The citizenry have been known to behave in strange manner after long trains of abuses, corruption and tyranny have been perpetrated against them by and for the ruling classes, re-awakening the rebellious spirit within the hearts of God-fearing, liberty-loving men.
The rebellion is on!
Off with their heads!
Trump said “The good ones” would be allowed to apply to return.
Not everyone.
I am assuming good means
No criminals
No gangs
No cartels
No felonies
No Job skills
No more than needed
Has Trump swindled you on a business deal? We are all ears.
Cruz, conservative?
After what’s come up lately, it depends on how you define ‘conservative.’
Remember Ronald Reagan, the celebrity that California went for?
