Trump Announces 22 Veterans Group to Receive $6 Million Raised at Iowa Rally

Trump announced he was donating $1 million on top of $5 million in similar and somewhat smaller sized donations from friends and supporters of Trump, including online donations that brought the total to over $6 million. A website set up by Trump Thursday morning, DonaldTrumpforVets.com to accept online donations stated $570,000 had been raised via the website as of Thursday night. The donations were being collected by the Donald J. Trump Foundation for disbursement to the veterans groups.

Four of the groups are based in Iowa: The Mulberry Street Veterans Shelter, Projects for Patriots, Puppy Jake and Support Siouxland Soldiers.

Trump did a great job.

But, my point is that the fundraiser was mainly to pad Trump's ego.

This vet thinks Trump is a phony.

But will I vote for him if he's the eventual nominee?

What’s up with Wounded Warriors? I’ve heard that the CEO draws close to 350 k per year. Also the last couple of years they have spent over 26 million on affairs and that the money isn’t getting to the wounded.

Actually, I am surprised at the high number of people here on FR that can’t, or won’t, understand that Trump is pandering, using vets as props. It is the same as the Dems, every election cycle, looking for the pity vote. “We have to help the children”, “We have to help all the single moms”, “We have to help those who can’t help themselves”, “Our veterans deserve better”! Every year I hear it and every year it goes away with the trash after the votes have been cast. Ask him how much he has done for vets up to the day he announced?

I will support Trump if he is the GOP nominee, but he comes in barely ahead of Jeb Bush, Mike Huckabee, and Rick Santorum, and is tied with Rand Paul on my list of preferred candidates.

I am not a political prop. I am not asking for anything. I am a proud veteran, 100% disabled, service connected, and I approve this message.

I would think that most/all the Republican candidates if elected; would do a much better job getting the VA healthcare system fixed; than what has been happening.

Not sure of all the candidates details; but there should be a way that a veteran could go anywhere to get care with out waiting; if the regular VA providers cant get it done.

I have to balance your statement with this article which details his generosity in New York with Vietnam Veterans Plaza where he wrote a check for $1,000,000.

The check Trump wrote was real and he wasn’t running for office.

Kind of where I’m at but I’m starting to think that Trump has a better chance to take down the rats. Also, as a vet I have no problem with Trump’s rallies and TV programs. Just to hear “Thank You” means a hell of a lot. Finally, when Hollywood does charity drives the celebrities seldom open their own wallets (Biden gave only $200 to charity a few years ago). Trump gave a mill last night. Billionaire or not, he gave....most don’t.
