Trump Announces 22 Veterans Group to Receive $6 Million Raised at Iowa Rally

Trump announced he was donating $1 million on top of $5 million in similar and somewhat smaller sized donations from friends and supporters of Trump, including online donations that brought the total to over $6 million. A website set up by Trump Thursday morning, DonaldTrumpforVets.com to accept online donations stated $570,000 had been raised via the website as of Thursday night. The donations were being collected by the Donald J. Trump Foundation for disbursement to the veterans groups.

Four of the groups are based in Iowa: The Mulberry Street Veterans Shelter, Projects for Patriots, Puppy Jake and Support Siouxland Soldiers.

Trump expects you have to have the purse strings lined up before you come on the show since raising funds is a big part of the show. Some people sandbag on donations until they are heading up the team.

He pretty much had his numbers lined up before he made the announcement. Maybe not officially- but he knew he could get it.

I would like to see him do this again but he won’t unless he has the numbers for donations. I think he can get them.

So you know, I like Cruz. I’ll even vote for him should he get the nod. I do, however, find it rather ignorant that so many Cruz supporters are poo pooing this idea simply because Trump did it. It would be a different story had Cruz stood up to the machine and done the same.

I don’t believe if it’s hate, but; there are not many Vets on Free Republic like there were. Perhaps some of the new combat vets will Join or say something. I believe many just do not know how damn bad the VA can be at times. Yes, they are good at times and even outstanding. How would you like to wait two months to see your primary care MD for what is starting to be bronchitis or pneumonia and you get it due to the damn wait. I did. The VA is cutting down pain meds as many of these new vets OD. Vietnam vets did not have 22 suicides/OD’s a day. The VA reacts with one size fits all which a private MD does not do. The problem for many is we drive 22 miles east one VA for regular care and the 36 miles the other direction to a VA with a pain clinic. With Trumps plan I can get everything at Vanderbilt.
