Actually, I am surprised at the high number of people here on FR that can’t, or won’t, understand that Trump is pandering, using vets as props. It is the same as the Dems, every election cycle, looking for the pity vote. “We have to help the children”, “We have to help all the single moms”, “We have to help those who can’t help themselves”, “Our veterans deserve better”! Every year I hear it and every year it goes away with the trash after the votes have been cast. Ask him how much he has done for vets up to the day he announced?
I will support Trump if he is the GOP nominee, but he comes in barely ahead of Jeb Bush, Mike Huckabee, and Rick Santorum, and is tied with Rand Paul on my list of preferred candidates.

Trump did not create the VA crisis. Saying you are going to fix it is absolutely not pandering.

I disagree.I have a number of friends who served with me in 68-69 in combat ( either recon or hatchet force types) who are real friends, not fair weather. The men one serves with in combat are not fair weather types. Not a damn one I know would agree with you.
Trump has supported Vets and Vet organizations for years. Do some research. Trump is a patriotic man and went to a military academy rather than a high school when young. Their are pictures of young Trump in his academy military uniform. The academy treated its students just as if the were young recruits. Trump has a real good feel for things military. He will be a great advocate as President, and will build it up again after 8 years of neglect.
