If Trump and Hillary Are Our Final Options, We Deserve Some Pain
Redstate ^ | 1/23/16 | Kimberly R.

Trump is at the top of the polls, and that may not change. Nevertheless, he will not receive my support. I am rather tired of a screeching establishment requiring that we support whomever is the current frontunner, and telling us we need to "get in line", like robots. That kind of talk is groupthink, much like Obamamania. It has no place in conservatism.

Trump is the kind of candidate who appeals to base emotions and the thirst for popular appeal. We should never treat candidates as celebrities. But increasingly, we do. I once thought that those on our side of the aisle were better than liberals in that we don't vote based on mindless, superficial reasons that got the similarly resume-challenged disaster known as Barack Obama into office. But unsurprisingly, we're just as capable of the same failure to treat the election process seriously.

From one pissed off American to another..

I have been voting in presidential elections since 1976,
and this is the most interesting election cycle I have ever seen.

We witnessed history in 1980, and I cannot help but think
that we may be witnessing history again.

This cycle has the potential to be the perfect storm.

I don’t know. It’s always been a RINO wasteland. Good to see they’re now supporting a constitutional conservative. But Teaming up with beck and Lowry? yuck.

I’m sick of politicians.

*************

I’m to the conclusion we should term limit them at least on the federal level. We have
term limits on the President and I’d go for them on the Representatives and Senators.

I couldn’t agree more. The Founders didn’t intend this country to have career politicians. They realized how dangerous that kind of power is.

Should these become my only two options, I'll likely skip the presidential vote and focus on the down ballot.

Not me.....I am voting for the most conservative 3rd party candidate.

I am voting for the most conservative 3rd party candidate.

So you'll be ordering the fish at Pizza Hut.

Yeah, that's as helpful as all get-out.

Because there ain't no fish at Pizza Hut.

I gagged after having to vote for McCain and Romney. This time I refuse to vote for a non-conservative.

I think it is foolhardy for a “constitutional conservative” to plunge forward and ignore the eligibility question, which, in his case, is more severe that it was for the Great Pretender now occupying the Oval Office. The offhand way in which so many are saying the issue is “silly” or, as in the case of Mark Levin, calling anyone who raises the issue a “nutjob,” does not bode well. The issue is not going to go away.

True but had The Pretender actually been born in Kenya it would have been the exact same criteria in question

Natural born per Constitution and 1790 act

Foreign born to US mom and non-US daddy

That is the exact issue

No offense, but with Trump's history of flip flopping, there may not be that much difference between Hitlerly and Trump if he takes a hard left turn. Better the dims be blamed for the next fiasco..

I am a principled conservative, and I am damn tired of voting for less.

When your most bestest secret love and best guy fails the primary...

Your game changes. My game changes. Everyone’s game changes.

At that point, the game is to inflict damage to the Dems, regardless of your secret love candidate.

You must then change from total victory as a goal to partial victory.

Just because you cannot have “X” does not mean that you must accept “Y”.
