Love guns or hate guns, one thing is becoming perfectly clear. The American public's perception of guns and the NRA is moving in the exact opposite direction of Barack Obam's message and agenda.
To hear Obama speak, you'd think the NRA is simply using boatloads of money and propaganda to thwart the impassioned gun control desires of the American public. In reality, nothing could be further from the truth.

Indeed, while the division is a close one, Americans by 47-42 percent think that encouraging more people to carry guns legally is a better response to terrorism than enacting stricter gun control laws. Divisions across groups are vast, underscoring the nation's gulf on gun issues.
Has anyone seen a Proud Member of the NRA patch or decal on any of the shooters of note’s clothing or vehicles?
Just a thought.
No, I still see the NRA as for the NRA only not the 2nd - they fought against us on Heller and Chicago. Never forget their betrayal.
Here is an anecdote.
for many years I would ask a relative about upcoming presidential elections and he would consistently put me down with" all politicians are the same it is a waste of time to vote or get involved in presidential politics.
Well I didn't give up and many years ago I asked him about an upcoming presidential election. Surprisingly he got animated and told me he had sent the Republications a $30 donation.
I was astounded, and then he went into a room and came back with a an NRA publication fingering Democrat Michael Dukakis as a gun grabber; and that was enough to get him to become active.
I know it is just an anecdote but if the NRA can get that type of a person to become politically active I think the NRA are definitely a factor in elections.
Or am I just being Capt. Obvious here. - Tom
The NRA attacks is certainly backfiring. I am not a member. Never have been. On facebook and some news chats that I participate on I get attacked with “typical NRA member” “following your orders from the NRA” etc. Then I say sorry you must juts be following that asshats Obamas orders because I am not a member of the NRA, just an America and a veteran. That pisses them off even more and the conversation usually ends then........
We are flat out winning this one...
Could the ones engaged in such activity simply be agent provocateurs? If we don't learn to hang together, we will surely hang separately.
My takeaway from this particular piece, "Americans' Positive Perception Of NRA Soars As Obama Escalates Gun-Control Agenda", is that it isn't so much directed toward the perception of the "NRA", as it is directed toward Americans' increasingly positive perception of gun ownership. In the battle over gun control, the NRA is most assuredly on our side.
Am I missing something?
I see NRA stickers on cars all the time.
I see the role of GOA and JPFO as making the NRA look "reasonable" by contrast.
I don't think you are missing anything when it comes to;
Americans increasingly positive perception of gun ownership.
I am seeing examples of people close to me, who never had, or wanted, a gun in the past, right now, going through the process of legally acquiring them. (And that's in Massachusetts) -tom
Cool! I think the increasing positive perception of gun ownership is something all responsible gun owners, and groups, can take pride in - especially considering the full court press the MSM, and administration, is using against us.
I wear my NRA jacket and hat all the time. I don’t know where you live but in Missouri it is common.
You do know what your talking about.

My comment may have been misconstrued as offered or composed.
I was trying to draw a distinction between those that support the 2nd amendment and those that oppose. No offense was intended at the NRA and its proud members.
All of the mass shootings of recent history were committed by people who DON’T belong to the NRA.
They likely have a fair share of Obama Biden and Gore Numbnuts stickers on their cars. Or Save the earth, plant a tree, not a terrorist.
here are the facts the NRA is hiding:
The NRA did not lead the legal effort against the D.C. law. Were it not for Bob Levy, there is no reason to believe a constitutional challenge to D.C.âs law would have been filed. Levyâs suit embarrassed the NRA into filing its own tag-along action, which was quickly dismissed for lack of standing.
They were shamed into supporting us AFTER we did the work.
The NRA’s TV ads are great - even people with half a brain can appreciate strength and security.
I joined after his latest attack on the 2nd. I was hoping others would as well and we would see stories to that effect. Letting the callow man know that he is strengthening his enemies.
The problem is the culture, not the gun.
Obama represents much of the worst in the culture; joining the NRA thus represents opposition to those who fail to recognize that.
I joined the NRA years before my family purchased our first gun.
