They are common sights in MO., at least the KC side.

About 30 years ago, I got an NRA giveaway luggage tag for renewing my membership. I was traveling a lot at the time (once or twice a week) and luggage tags got ripped off regularly. I put it on a piece of luggage. My next trip, the suitcase disappeared. In all my traveling, I had a number of suitcases that did not make it to the airport I was at, at the same time as I did, but every one of them made it back to me. Sometimes in a couple of hours and sometimes in a couple of days, but they ALWAYS returned.
The NRA marked suitcase did not return - EVER. I have absolutely no doubt that someone thought there was a gun in the suitcase and stole it. He was wrong, but I have made a point of NEVER putting any kind of NRA mark (or other gunowner ID) on anything I own since then. I have also not had anything stolen from me since.
