Can Donald Trump's Mockery of a Disabled Reporter be Defended?
RedState ^ | November 27, 2015 | Leon H. Wolf

...Mocking a disabled person for their disability has been universally passe since at least the 1950s, and so some of his supporters have been out on twitter over the last couple of days offering various defenses for Trump's behavior on this video. It is important to note that Trump himself has (as far as I know) offered only this by way of "explanation" for his actions:

Defense 1. Trump didn't know Koveleski was disabled...

So, to believe that Trump had no idea what Koveleski looked like or the particulars of his disability, you would have to believe a) that the entire written record of their numerous interactions is fabricated, and Koveleski in particular (the very person on whose word Trump is staking his 9/11 claims) is flat out lying b) that he said "the poor guy" when referring to Koveleski because... well, I have no idea what the "because" is even supposed to be on that one and c) Trump was able to pull off an imitation of Koveleski's specific physical deformity purely by chance...

2. "The Media" mocked Trig Palin for having Down's Syndrome, so they are fair game.

...if Tom Brokaw insulted Dick Cheney, that would not give Rick Santorum free license to punch Jake Tapper in the face.  That's more or less exactly the defense that is being raised by Trump supporters, though.

3. No one is above mockery...

The problem comes when people are mocked, not for the things they've done, but for the physical conditions over which they have no control...

Trump has demonstrated time and time again that he simply is not suited for the office either by temperament or by judgment...

Trump's wall will keep illegals out. Quite a world of difference.

And who will Trump hire to build the wall that will be inescapable, or impossible to enter...let me guess...the Mexicans? Bwahahaha. This gets better by the minute.

So you think that it's perfectly okay to run as a GOP, when one is really a Libertarian, but couldn't win an election for dog catcher, under that appelation, take money from the RNC, and mostly vote with the Dems, not the GOP, put all kinds of pork on Bills you know will pass, but rail against "PORK"; do you?

Declaring bankruptcy is legal and it's better than losing one's shirt.

Political donations are also quite legal; however they ARE "bribes" and anyone who doesn't understand that, is the nether part of a horse!

Looks like they're trotting out the old Lefty "Trump went bankrupt" canard.

I saw someone explain it in the same manner that you just did. Trump has had many, many businesses.

The Lefties try to seize on the "stain" that "a bankruptcy" supposedly leaves on one's life and "honor", not understanding that in business, bankruptcies are a norm.

It's a business decision you make to cut your losses. Banks and other financial institutions do it all the time.

Of course, if the peasants caught on to that line of thinking, it wouldn't serve the purposes of their Elite Masters. :)

Hard to explain to the magical thinking of a Paulist...

Oh little drooly sycophant, kneeling to your tinpot god, Paul, get off your knees and look at reality, instead of remaining in your benighted, smoke filled haze.

I’m a Cruz Supporter as well with Trump as my second choice, but I don’t buy into this manufactured hit piece against Trump.

I watched the Trump Speech live and I never thought he was making fun a someone’s Disability, not that I knew what I know now.

I went back and watched the part of the Video the Media has decided is Newsworthy, and my opinion hasn’t changed. This was after I saw the Screen Shot posted here that implied Trump had done something wrong. What a manipulation of reality that turned out to be.

Talk about a Tempest in a Teapot. I’m sorry so many here are buying into this ridiculous scandal, but people seem to see what they want to see here based on their Candidate of choice.

Just my $.02, your Mileage may vary.

Trump is the front runner meaning he is THE most popular of any Republican candidate which will likely turn into votes at the polls.

Trump has been vetted for decades. We know who we are voting for and we are thankful he is willing to leave his cushy life to make our country great again. We get that he doesn’t need this. He has death threats against his life only because he is running for POTUS. Why would someone like him leave a hit TV Show, his amazing lifestyle, unless he truly cared about our country. He’s been vetted yet the left continues to bring up non-isuses that literally NO ONE cares about.. LOL actually probably good that the left continues to preoccupy themselves with the issues they think will take Trump down that have literally ZERO impact on changing anyones mind on whether or not they should vote for Trump.

So, are you "too good" to clean a toilet well, Paulist?

I wouldn't have such a one working for me.

Yes, Mexico pays for it and it is built by Mexicans. Couldn't get any better. All that is left is for the SCOTUS to confirm that the original Constitution and the 14th Amendment never intended to legalize anchor babies of alien parents.

Paulinistas ( and apparently some others here ) have less than NO business knowledge at all; they just post whatever the lefty MSM tells them what to think/say.

Trump is like the FFs....he has given up running his businesses, the T.V. show, his lifestyle, and even the precious time he otherwise spends with his family, whom he loves, in order to run for the presidency, to try to SAVE what's left of this once great nation. HE IS A TRUE PATRIOT!

And before one of the TDSers posts the power crap, TYrump has had a whole LOT of POWER, and really doesn't need to be on this treadmill, to "get power".

I think George Washington was correct when he stated that while political parties "may now and then answer popular ends, they are likely in the course of time and things, to become potent engines, by which cunning, ambitious, and unprincipled men will be enabled to subvert the power of the people and to usurp for themselves the reins of government, destroying afterwards the very engines which have lifted them to unjust dominion."

If anyone with morals and beliefs in liberty ever "take money" from the RNC (or DNC for that matter), and then dare not to do their bidding for them, it's called karma.

That's cute.

Now I remember when folks on Free Republic thought that George W. Bush could do no wrong, and were always telling me how he kept us all safe. But now your new hero, Trump, comes along and actually criticizes Bush because the Twin Towers came down under Bush's reign (and yes, I can send you the video clip where Trump says it with his own fat mouth; it's not the "big, bad media" making it up). And Trump went on to say that government proved to be a disaster during the Bush administration. So how do you square those things together?

No worries; I wasn't seeking work from you. But keep putting words in others' mouths that they did not say. You must have been trained in the field of the same mainstream press that you claim to dislike.

Most likely, Trump has already measured and compiled all data on the wall. It’s such a cornerstone of his campaign, most likely, the most elite engineers have already submitted proposals.

Trump builds. Trump = Action and Profit

It’s like the media is unaware of what Trump has accomplished over several decades. Leftist media has already shown they are going to be caught off guard and will not be able to keep up with Trump’s accomplishments if he becomes President. Because they refuse to acknowledge Trump’s competency, they will continue to get blind sided by Trumps ability to get quality things done AHEAD of schedule. Every engineer with great talent should have already have submitted a proposal to Trump at this point in time.

You seem to have a "certain disdain" for toilet cleaning, as evidenced in your prior post.

One can conclude that you consider it beneath you.

Most people would also conclude with an attitude like that, you're some sort of Elitist.

Wow. I asked what was a very good question about your main squeeze, Donald Trump. but it got “removed by moderator.” I simply wanted to know what you thought about Trump saying that the Bush Administration was a disaster for allowing 9/11 to happen on W’s watch. But I guess someone got butt hurt by that question and had to go to their safe zone.

Ha ha! Good one! That will have to be your last joke for the evening. Or at least for me to read anyway, as I have to get back up in seven hours and go back to work on a Saturday in a holiday weekend, when many of you are sleeping comfortably. (You know how we elitists are!)
