INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Two young men charged in the shooting death of an Indianapolis pastor's pregnant wife gave brief answers to a judge's questions Tuesday during their first court appearance since their arrest.
Marion County Superior Court Judge Grant Hawkins entered not guilty pleas for 18-year-old Larry Taylor Jr. and 21-year-old Jalen Watson and appointed attorneys for the Indianapolis men during their initial hearing on murder, burglary, theft and several other charges. The judge also set a Jan. 8 pretrial conference for both men.
Taylor, who authorities allege fatally shot 28-year-old Amanda Blackburn earlier this month, appeared distracted, swiveling back and forth in his chair. Hawkins told Taylor more than once that he needed to respond clearly and audibly to each of his questions about whether he understood the charges, rather than only "yeah." Watson, however, said "yes" and "yes sir," throughout.
Prosecutors said Taylor and Watson entered through the unlocked front door of Blackburn's home shortly after her husband, Pastor Davey Blackburn, left for the gym about 6 a.m. Nov. 10. A probable cause affidavit says Taylor shot Amanda Blackburn three times, including once in the back of the head.
Watson faces a murder charge because Blackburn was killed during a home burglary and prosecutors allege that he was involved in it.
Marion County Prosecutor Terry Curry said Monday it was not clear whether Blackburn, who was 13 weeks pregnant, had been sexually assaulted; she was found partially nude. Prosecutors have filed a request with the court that seeks to enhance the murder charge Taylor faces, citing that she was pregnant at the time of her killing.

I remember when this story first broke being struck by two people on Fox who seemed pretty confidant that the husband was involved. It was Judge Jeannine (whom I quite like) and one of the men....is there a Greg Jarrett? I was kind of uncomfortable with their implications.
Whoever they were, they were obviously major idiots.
They couldn’t have been more wrong. That’s what they get for jumping to conclusions.
Were they claiming the husband hired these men? I have yet to see any claim of that if that’s what they thought.
Yes, seeing as the husband was at the gym. They said his demeanor was just not that of someone who just lost his wife and baby.
I saw pictures of three men. The third one was the goofy-looking one. He might have snitched on the other two, which is why he hasn’t been charged yet.

Hmmm. The shock is sometimes a factor, I would think. I had a relative die of an health issue. Totally unexpected. I don’t think the enormity of the grief hit me until a few months later.
Dunno. Evil sometimes has incredible timing. That’s why I’m a big believer in locked doors and theirs was apparently unlocked.
It sounds like this group was on quite the crime spree before they hit that house. That seems unlikely the husband was involved. At least to me.

Yeah, and on a day when a Russian fighter jet got shot down, NBC News led with the Chicago story, even though the black guy was shot a year ago.
NBC is desperate with having had Lyin’ Brian Williams.
Even CBS with Scott Pelley started with the Russian fighter.
And we know what libs he and CBS are.
Maybe they think it makes them less white.
There sure seem to be a lot of these crimes. And they’re especially evil crimes. Of course it happens with other demographics.
But lately, the murders of the CEO and his family, the NOLA shooter/attempted-kidnapper/thief, this crime, the two boys who stabbed the woman to death in Missouri, the 14-year that raped and sliced up his teacher with a box cutter in Mass. and on and on and on.
Yeah you would think this shooting just happened yesterday it happened a YEAR ago..but this story takes the focus away from Obama, away from Jihad and back to all cops are evil nonsense..meanwhile two black thugs murdered a pastors wife and she was PREGNANT too and not a peep from the media
From accounts I heard she was raped, beaten, pistol whipped and one of her teeth knocked out....then shot 3 times in the head.
She was all of 27, 28..... A child upstairs and 3 months pregnant.
When do we start the rioting .......When will this be called a hate crime.
Death penalty for home invasion.
