Melissa Click shut herself in her university office on Tuesday afternoon and could be heard sobbing through the door.
A day earlier, the communications professor at the University of Missouri had helped lead a multitude of activists form a circle hundreds of yards long to block reporters from a tent encampment on Mizzou's Carnahan Quadrangle, following the resignation of University of Missouri President Timothy M. Wolfe.
A video that went viral Monday evening showed Click calling out for "muscle" to help remove a student journalist from the area.
Click emerged from her office around 5 p.m. Tuesday and released a statement apologizing for her actions. She said she had contacted the journalists involved to also apologize, and regretted that she had shifted attention from the "students' campaign for justice."
"From this experience I have learned about humanity and humility," Click said.

An email vote was being conducted among doctoral faculty and members of the Journalism School’s Promotion and Tenure Committee on Tuesday morning. A simple majority from the groups is needed to revoke a courtesy appointment, Thorson said.
“It’s close,” Thorson said of the vote. “But we have some strong voices concerned about fairness (to Click).”

Kinda funny how the leader of the student horde yesterday suddenly encountered the horde of public opinion today (and probably the wrath of whatever school administrators remain). Karma and all that...

I hate it when someone touches me in a moment of anger. That should be counted as molestation /ork ork ork
In the meantime, if I had a kid at that school, I'd be on the way there right now to bring him or her home, and if my kid had been in that video or part of the "protest/mob," then he or she would be hitting the road and paying their own way from that point forth.
