Carson suggests that gun rights might have changed history for Jews in WWII

Ben Carson said Thursday that Adolph Hitler’s mass murder of Jews “would have been greatly diminished” if German citizens had not been disarmed by the Nazi regime.

The comment, which came during an interview with CNN’s Wolf Blitzer, was similar to arguments Carson made following last week’s mass shooting at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Ore., in which he defended the Second Amendment and suggested that the victims should have fought the gunman.

How can you say it is ridiculous? There is a holocaust movie, I can’t remember which one, where the people in “leadership” in one of the ghettos got their hands on some guns and ended up killing a few nazis. Of course they ended up being sent to the concentration camps, but that would have happened anyway. They were glad they fought. Imagine if the Jews had been able to defend themselves. Part of the problem is that they were constantly lied to, so they held out hope that things would turn out okay. Still, with guns they could have at least taken out some of the enemy.

I think the record of the Warsaw ghetto says he is right. And when Hitler began rounding up Jews, they were taken by detachments of police, known as Gestapo, not Blitzer's "War machine," and would have been quite able to defend themselves with small arms in their homes and neighborhoods.

Funny how all the liberals at WaPo hate this obvious truth.

Regarding school shootings, if schools all had armed guards, yes one could avert massacres from lone gunmen, I agree.

The other comment is absurd in the extreme. Warsaw Ghetto clearing proves that....guns vs heavy artillery and tons of troops, yes that was VERY successful I don’t think.
