Senate Democrats are saddling up for another gun-control push in response to the shooting at Umpqua Community College. Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) announced Monday that he is reaching out to Democratic senators on moving background checks legislation.

If “we don’t take action, we are equally responsible for innocent deaths as the sick individuals who plot and carry out these horrific measures,” Reid declared Monday on the Senate floor. “One thing is clear: To pass background checks, we need Republicans to stop acting as puppets of the NRA.”

Okay picky people, it was a “guns so restricted as to do what the aim of the restrictions was, namely to discourage any arms” zone.

Good, he is the one who deserves it. Folks want to cut their best friends off at the knees because of mistakes.

The politician’s stance is based on how they perceive public opinion. if the public is perceived as moral, principled, responsible, and independent. The politician will govern according to Constitutional principles. If the public is perceived as immoral, degenerate, unprincipled, corrupt, dependent, and weak, the politician will govern as a tyrant. Feathering his nest and seizing power. In essence, the public’s actions tell how the politician will act.

Opinion does not mean squat without willingness to act which in turn hinges on courage.

A politician will not care if the public opinion is to the right of Attila the Hun if no courage accompanies it.

Good luck finding that conservative (read Madisonian Constitutionalist). Going to take something really big to stop the inertia that is fed by a “felating press,” social everything (vox populi vox dei), and the mistaken view that they can make people better (not getting off into Mal’s soliloquy).

“One thing is clear: To pass background checks, we need Republicans to stop acting as puppets of the NRA.”

Aren't the NRA puppets for the millions who donate money for them to lobby congress? Shouldn't congress be listening to their constituents? Not that they were when Harry rammed ObamaCare down our throats.

Time for Harry's brother to smack him around again.

Been pretty disappointed with Mark Amodei and Dean Heller. Waiting to see what pops out of the woodwork to run for hairy’s seat.

I could make a tasteless quip about the wrong people being shot in this country, but I guess it wouldn’t be prudent. Nevermind.

Did LaPierre really do that?

If so, then he needs to be replaced.

I just wish that the Leftists/Statists would be honest and just tell us that they want to confiscate all guns...

Mika, being honest... (FR thread from yesterday)

Harry, when did we stop doing background checks on legal weapon purchases ?

O’ Wait we never stopped...

We have a “nut” problem, not a gun problem...

Do something about the mentally ill, count yourself among them...

Dems want gun legislation?

Fine.

Pass a Bill outlawing 'gun free' zones.
