Of course the NRA is a single issue group. They’re the National Rifle Association, not the National Republican Association. I expect them to be a single issue group that puts the second amendment before all else and quite honestly, I want as many Democrats on board with the NRA’s mission as possible because that is far more useful than keeping the second amendment a Republican only wedge issue. I don’t want the NRA kowtowing to any interest groups beyond the second amendment interest group.

Bingo. They, the NRA, showed such poor judgement in backing this “cretin” that I refuse to support them financially any longer. I don’t give $ to any organization that shows such poor judgement.

Yes, and Harry Reid worked out spectacularly for us, didn’t he?

And now he’s supporting “gun control” - is that jiving with the current NRA stance?

I’d like the NRA to widen their scopes, because single issue voters gave us Barry for two terms. Women delivered Barry to us over abortion and free birth control.

Single issue support is ignorant, no matter what the issue is. America is more than guns and vaginas.

And now he’s supporting “gun control”

Now he's the minority leader so he can support gun control as much as his liberal heart desires, it ain't going nowhere. And what if they had supported Sharon Angle instead? She lost. How would that have helped?

I’d like the NRA to widen their scopes, because single issue voters gave us Barry for two terms

You would like to widen the scope of this argument beyond this single issue too. Harry Reid killed the AWB and now he's the minority leader. The NRA played a good game and you and everybody else benefitted from it even if you refuse to acknowledge it.

The NRA showed excellent judgment in 2010. Sharon Angle lost which was completely predictable as Harry Reid has won every election he has run in since 1970. And then there's this of course:

"Harry Reid Shoots Down Feinstein's Assault Weapon Ban"

Sen. Dianne Feinstein emerged from a closed-door meeting with Majority Leader Harry Reid on Monday — but her ban on assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition magazines didn’t.

Mr. Reid turned down her attempt to bring her ban on 157 different weapons and ammunition clips aboard the Democratic Party’s comprehensive gun bill, Politico

Yes, “this” argument should be widened, because Reid hurt America more than he helped any gun issue. And that is my bigger argument.

The NRA or any large org ought to be more careful and thoughtful about whom they endorse. Reid has been an absolute tyrant in the Senate, steamrolling any objection to Barry’s objective of transforming America.

If nothing else matters to you than I certainly won’t persuade you otherwise. His damage has been done, and the NRA was a big part of helping him do that.

As I said, Reid hasn’t lost an election in 40 years. He was going to win and become senate majority leader with or without their support. Having the senate majority leader supportive of your agenda is better than having him opposed to it as evidenced by the fact that Harry Reid killed Feinstein’s AWB right in front of her eyes. Nobody has been more successful at opposing Obama’s agenda than the NRA. The hard fact is, if it wasn’t for the NRA backing Harry Reid, most semi-automatic rifles and handguns and all magazines with a capacity greater than 10 rounds would now be banned. So, there isn’t an argument that you or anyone else can make that will convince me that they exercised poor judgment in supporting Harry Reid at that time. I have a brand new DPMS gen II Recon coming this week and it’s thanks to the NRA.

It had no chance to pass. But it should have been brought up for a vote, dirty harry prevented that from happening. Supporters should have had their votes become part of their records, to be used against them.

Poppycock to believe we owe gun rights to dirty harry.

Kill it before it has a chance to grow, that’s what I say and that’s what Reid did. Reid killed the AWB. Deal with it.

America is more than guns and vaginas.

Factually incorrect, and preposterous on its face.

"Reid killed the AWB."

Reid convinced the NRA he could kill the bill in exchange for their support. It had no chance to pass. The NRA lost massive support for this folly, including mine.

Deal with it.

The voters of Nevada were free to vote for whoever they wanted. The NRA didn’t put a gun to anyone’s head. The voters of Nevada voted for Harry Reid just like they did in every election since 1970. Having the inevitable senate majority leader as an ally makes a heck of a lot more sense than having him as an enemy. One would have to be a moron and a natural born loser to fail to see this logic. I think the NRA will manage just fine without such people and I am personally happy to have them keep their distance. We’ll definitely do better without their influence.

I’m not talking about the voters of Nevada, one would have to be moron to sense that from my posts. I’m talking about the poor judgement the NRA made in crawling in bed with that vile corrupt politician dirty harry reid.

The AWB had no chance of passing with Di Fi’s language. But all the NRA accomplished was not putting the gun control supporters votes on the record, where they could have been used against them.

Go try to cower someone else with your defense of that poor judgement. What you fail to see is that by supporting, paying off, a slimy corrupt politician like reid some of that slime rubs off on you. And your support of that process only keeps our corrupt political system chugging right along.

And, apparently, you’re okay with that ... I’m not.

The AWB had no chance of passing with Di Fi’s language.

Your whole argument is based on a false premise. You don't know that it had no chance of passing.

But all the NRA accomplished was not putting the gun control supporters votes on the record, where they could have been used against them.

That isn't their job. Their job is to protect and defend the second amendment and to use their power and influence in whatever way best facilitates that agenda.

Go try to cower someone else with your defense of that poor judgment.

Their judgment was fine. By your own admission, you resent the fact that they did exactly what they were supposed to do instead of engaging in some needless political battle that is inconsistent with their entire raison d'etre. I judge all things by their outcomes and the outcome here was a dead AWB bill and I am perfectly good with that outcome. Furthermore, a year after Harry Reid killed the AWB bill, he became the minority leader and is now, therefore, in no position to do anything about gun control except talk talk talk which is all he is doing. The NRA's judgment was impeccable.

>What you fail to see is that by supporting, paying off, a slimy corrupt politician like reid some of that slime rubs off on you. And your support of that process only keeps our corrupt political system chugging right along. And, apparently, you’re okay with that ... I’m not.

Spoken like a natural born loser. Or like a person that isn't at all interested in defending the second amendment. I'll take my victories however I may obtain them, especially with regard to the second amendment. always.

"I think the Democratic party is comprised of treasonous baby killers and I absolutely consider myself their enemy."

And yet your love and admiration for Harry Reid. Must be interesting living in your head.

"Or like a person that isn't at all interested in defending the second amendment. "

Nice straw man you built there ... and you look so tough tearing it to pieces.

You've made your love for Harry Reid quite plain. Have at it. For enough money he's liable to do anything you want ... or desire.

OH, I love Harry Reid now, is that it? You’re pathetic. The NRA doesn’t enjoy the luxury of endorsing your favorite candidate in every election. They operate in the real world where they are waging a real war where real choices have to made and real consequences are at stake. You’re just an internet nobody with a grudge and nothing to lose. My new DPMS G2 Recon shipped today- THANK YOU NRA! And no thanks at all to Comment Not Approved. Oh... and thank you Harry Reid too.
