Kim Davis, the Kentucky clerk who went to jail for refusing to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples, met with Pope Francis last week during his visit to the U.S., Davis' attorney Mat Staver told CBS News.

According to Staver, the two met briefly last Thursday, September 24, at the Vatican Embassy in Washington, D.C.

Staver said Pope Francis spoke to Davis in English and asked her to pray for him. He said Davis, in return, asked the pope to pray for her. The pope told her to stay strong, according to her lawyer.

Must admit, when I first started hearing these rumours I dismissed them.

The Pope put on a public show that made liberal media elites, corporate business and banking elites and so on very happy.

Too bad he wasn’t more public about this.....

Pity he didn’t discuss persecution of Christians at the UN, instead of global warming.

Interesting that they met and that each asked the other to pray for him/her. Too bad, though, that when the Pope was asked about Davis’ case, he defended her right to be a conscientious objector, but did not express his agreement with her. Another ball dropped by this pope.

Sounds like this pope dropped more balls than he started with.

It doesn't seem appropriate for the Pope to ask to be prayed for. I read that Bohner said the same thing.

To me this guy is a fraud and doesn't need to be prayed for, he needs to be chastised.

The Pope says “pray for me” because he knows that the best thing he can get a person to do is to Pray. When we pray regularly, God can speak to us. Even if we’re praying for others instead of our own needs. Really... its ESPECIALLY if we’re praying for others instead of our own needs.

“To me this guy is a fraud and doesn’t need to be prayed for, he needs to be chastised.”

Amen!

He along with each anti-pope that supported the anti-doctrinal “Vatican II Council” (each so-called pope since the last true pope, Pope Pius XII of happy memory)

He and those that support his claim to papacy need to repent and admit that they have stolen the buildings and the prestige from true Catholics, and pray for God’s forgiveness and healing as He then establishes the next true pope who will (like great popes of long ago) be a man after God’s own heart and will not teach heresy and will not question or shed doubt on the doctrine which no valid pope has ever questioned or tried to twist or redefine. Truth doesn’t change with the times.

Saint Michael the Archangel, pray for us!

They certainly devoted a whole lotta NBC News with Lester Holt to it. Seemed like 1/3 to 1/2 the show at least, the other night.

CBS wouldn’t report this if there was any way around it... they hate conservatives.

Interesting that they met and that each asked the other to pray for him/her.

And the pope gives her and her husband rosary beads, though they are both (he is assume) holiness Pentecostal Christians!

If they should have met him at all, they should have handed them right back and challenged him to find even one prayer addressed to anyone else but the Lord in the over 200 prayers by believers in the Bible. And given him the gospel of grace as preached in Acts. Which the pope does not even come close to preaching while his church is the largest deformation of the NT church .

This pope even said that, “The Lord has redeemed all of us, all of us, with the Blood of Christ: all of us, not just Catholics. Everyone! ‘Father, the atheists?’ Even the atheists. Everyone! And this Blood makes us children of God of the first class! - http://www.newyorker.com/news/hendrik-hertzberg/father-the-atheists-even-the-atheists

Aack!!! I did not know about all that! You really have to wonder if he has even studied the Bible. Yeah, Jesus’ blood gives us all the OPPORTUNITY to be redeemed, but we have to accept that redemption individually. I am Protestant and have no connection to (or use for) the Pope, but I am so disappointed in this man. I’m so sorry for our Catholic FReepers.

One FReeper (I can’t remember who) said it best over the weekend: “Pack up your pope crap and hit the road.” The man truly has cheapened the “popedom”, er, papacy.

I’m so sorry for our Catholic FReepers.

He has defenders here, while other imagine they do not have to give assent to all encyclicals, and pick and choose which Cath. teaching is valid based upon their judgment of past non-inspired teaching of Rome, while censuring evangelicals who do so from wholly inspired Scripture.
