Source close to Trump: Fox News hosts are asking him to end his boycott so that their ratings don’t
Hot Air ^ | SEPTEMBER 25, 2015

For all of our Trump fans, a sweet little morsel left over from yesterday’s Gabriel Sherman post about the latest eruption of the Trump/Fox war.

Are there any Fox News hosts so obsequious towards Trump that they might dial him up and beg him to come back, like Johnny Fontane pleading with the Godfather to help him get that part he always wanted? Seems hard to imagine for most of them. Emphasis on “most.”

One reason there likely won’t be peace in our time is that Trump still has not gotten over Kelly’s questioning of him during the opening Republican primary debate. “She caused me a lot of damage, didn’t she?” Trump recently vented to a friend. “He’s really angry,” a source explained…

Both sides are posturing to save face. Yesterday a Fox statement called Trump’s boycott “stale and tiresome.” But a source close to the Trump campaign told me that Trump thinks he has the leverage. Trump has been hearing from Fox hosts who are worried that his boycott will hurt ratings. The calculus seems to be that by shunning Fox, Trump is hoping to drive a wedge between Fox hosts, Kelly, and Ailes. That may be wishful thinking. As an Ailes friend told me today: “Roger can’t turn back. The entire credibility of Fox as powerbroker rests on Trump being destroyed.”

I’ve often felt powerless and defeated at the knowledge that the powerful media is corrupt, and choosing sides; using their power to puff some candidates, and destroy others. And I despaired that nothing could be done about it.

My thoughts exactly! Even though I would prefer to see Cruz at the top of the ticket, the fact that Trump has so far been able to circumvent the MSM has won my support. All of the other candidates are totally unacceptable to me due to their position on amnesty. Carly intrigued me at first, but the more I learn about her, the less I like her and her voice is beginning to irriate me as much as does Hillary's!

What Fox might find out is that Fox does not control the conservative base, that it did not invent conservatism and that conservatives are not weak minded ideologues the way liberals are.

Conservatives do not get their ideas from emotionally based arguments the way libs do.

If what is being said is true, that someone new has taken over Fox, they’re going to find failure in this attempt to use liberal tactics on the base.

they are using Jon Stewart tactics to try to steer viewers

When Greg gutfeld last week said ‘I am a conservative and...’ I thought, that’s strange, no you’re not. By what standard?

It was also the first time I’ve heard him say it

There is likely a complete meltdown. If they and Trump have set out to fight to the finish, and they think they’re going to come out ahead, they have not paid attention

I found this station a while back and really like it. Just news with some patriotic quotes interspersed. None of the silliness Fox has so often.

“Viewers turned off and tuned out, quit paying attention to either the pope or the Donald.”

CNN stayed with the Pope's activities all day long yesterday and I watched all of it as I'm sure other Catholics did if they were home or able to watch it otherwise.

Since CNN was with it all day, I didn't check Fox to see if they covered all of it. Right now, Fox showed the Pope landing in Philadelphia and showing his reception there.

To all: Normally, I have Fox on all day and will continue to do that. So far as I know, Trump is not God and doesn't own Fox. Since I watch it all the time, Trump has gotten more good time on there personally, or mentioned every day, than the other candidates. If you are not watching Fox, then you do not know what they are doing.

They cover all the candidates and in my opinion, give Trump his due of being ahead of all of them. They cover the news and if the news is something detrimental about a candidate, they report it whether it is Rubio or Trump or another one.

The candidate they don't give much credit to, or time, is Cruz. I don't cuss at Fox for this and believe when Cruz begins his climb, they will mention him more and have him on more.

Fox news is the best we have and I'm glad they are there. Maybe some of you are too young to remember when Fox came on the scene. News channels were liberal and Fox got here giving the more conservative news. I refuse to dump on Fox.

Not so much. Social media is the alternate tool. The group that doesn’t social media will vote for him anyway. The group that does social media will find him. My guess is that he will make obongo look like a piker with his contact list before it is all done. What Trump picks to do he does well.

“Pulleez! Trump needs Fox to reach the Conservative base.
This is the old “walk out of the showroom” tactic.”

You are smart among the masses here. Short, accurate post.

It’d be hilarious if he bought FOX and fired Megyn.

Agreed. Fox then simply blends in with the rest of the MSM—the kiss of death.

That’s right.

Why do they think they got good ratings in the first place?

Generally they were double the Leftist sites.

Seems sort of the like the Republican Party, forgetting who and what they represent.

Trump likes Hannity (Hannity likes the Donald)and, I observe, has a tolerance for BOR. The ball-removal comment from Rich Lowry (which really riled Trump) occurred on the Kelly File that Donald was already boycotting, so don’t know why he chose to boycott Fox News altogether.I guess it’s because of other GOPe types on the channel who oppose him.

It’s a strategy. Trump’s people are controlling the narrative right now.

I’ve said this before:

I know plenty of guys appreciate the babes, but it turns my stomach to see them all dressed like hookers and blow-up dolls.

Bleached teeth, bleached, straightened hair, too much
makeup, too much cleavage and always with somebody’s crossed legs center stage.

They share the same spandex dresses from Wardrobe and
could somebody bring back stockings?Bare legs look so trashy and dirty.

Greta is the only one excused from the exercise.

As for actual programming.... it’s a slightly slanted
channel that corners the lion’s share of news viewers,
as most Americans are right-leaning. It’s a marketing
strategy. There’s no meat with those potatoes. The presenters are all RINO-loving, Conservative-hating mannequins.

I believe it’s designed to “lead” viewers to desired
opinions, which is same old same old Mass Media.

Smoke and mirrors. And most viewers probably think they’re getting a true, Conservative POV.

Just my 2 cents, fwiw. Haven’t watched more than a few minutes of something in probably 9 years.

I stopped watching TV. Just can’t stand any more about this rude pope who sounds more like a community organizer than a religious leader. How long will this continue? It has been going on and on and on.

In my NJ town we cannot get Verizon FIOS. Something about not having our power lines in front of homes. Al our power lines are in our backyards. (Street lights are gas lamps)

We have Comcast TV, and I have emailed them to consider OANN, but no response so far.
