For all of our Trump fans, a sweet little morsel left over from yesterdays Gabriel Sherman post about the latest eruption of the Trump/Fox war.
Are there any Fox News hosts so obsequious towards Trump that they might dial him up and beg him to come back, like Johnny Fontane pleading with the Godfather to help him get that part he always wanted? Seems hard to imagine for most of them. Emphasis on most.
One reason there likely wont be peace in our time is that Trump still has not gotten over Kellys questioning of him during the opening Republican primary debate. She caused me a lot of damage, didnt she? Trump recently vented to a friend. Hes really angry, a source explained
Both sides are posturing to save face. Yesterday a Fox statement called Trumps boycott stale and tiresome. But a source close to the Trump campaign told me that Trump thinks he has the leverage. Trump has been hearing from Fox hosts who are worried that his boycott will hurt ratings. The calculus seems to be that by shunning Fox, Trump is hoping to drive a wedge between Fox hosts, Kelly, and Ailes. That may be wishful thinking. As an Ailes friend told me today: Roger cant turn back. The entire credibility of Fox as powerbroker rests on Trump being destroyed.

They always pick a RINO to pump during the primary. They tried to destroy Newt and ending up banning him from their network too for a time during last primary. So this is nothing new. You can choose not to “believe” it but you’re denying the obvious reality of what Fox repeatedly does during primaries.
Fox cant badmouth Trump 24/7 and then expect him to do their shows and keep their ratings up. Trump wont stand for it.

I agree.
I’m the furthest thing from a Trumpie but this kind of s#!t stiffens my resolve. They hate him because he can’t be bought off like Boehner, Reid, Cantor or that little fag Paul Ryan
Yes. Fox News used The Donald. He was an attraction. Their mistake was in trying to attack him in the first place.
It never occurred to Fox that Trump was a serious candidate and would not derail himself in a month ... that he connected with regular people who’ve been annoyed for years at the holier than thou attitude of a lot of the press.
Trump may react a little ... what can I say ... childishly but at least he doesn’t take no s**T out of anyone including the press.
And, by the way, Fox does need him and will definitely put out feelers to get him on Fox News Sunday or some show. Chris Wallace might be a little afraid of him, ya think?
Your posting if true needs to be up front on all threads.
You’re right about the Fox coverage of The Pope. What was up with that? I mean Popes have visited before and I don’t remember this much attention. Maybe I’ve forgotten.
Maybe it’s because I’m not that enamored of this Pope but when I turned on Fox this week which I usually do first thing in the morning to see what’s happened, it was just Pope City.
And, by the way, first thing in the morning here is noon on the mainland so...
But I still turn to Fox and will probably continue to do so. Old loyalties die hard with me.
Not trying to be offensive here, but I think the networks were afraid not to have a camera on him at all times just in case something horrific happened.
Which is not out of the question in our world.
I’ll be glad when he’s safely back inside the Vatican walls.
I took that Republican Party poll that they keep throwing up on Facebook.
It was a little disquieting. They asked us to pick 3 favorites. I picked Cruz and Trump and then ... I couldn’t find a third. Before it would have been Walker but that’s over.
I certainly couldn’t pick Carly, or Graham or Paul or Rubio or ... I thought we had a plethora of excellent candidates but now... what happened? At least we’re not down to Hillary or Bernie like the Dems.
“Fox always tried to damage Trump, and that’s what they are still trying to do, whether it’s by discussing him negatively or ignoring him and pimping other candidates.”
What is the old adage? Write what you want, just get my name right.
You’re right Rita. I do know psychology though.
Nothing is out of bounds for Megyn Springer. (When are the duggers coming back?).
If CNN really wants to hurt Fox this is their chance.
“Truth is, Donald Trump does not need Fox, they need him!”
That’s how it looks to me too, and bears repeating. As an observer up the thread said, Ailes could be in real trouble. Trump hasn’t had the successes he’s had without recognizing where the leverage lies, and how to apply it.
sorry but if you watch the almost one hour speech today, he is having fun.
i think the conservative base can watch trump on the stump via youtube every day.
FFNATHTRIO
Southerners can figure that acronym
“Ailes can’t turn back. The entire credability of Fox.....depends on Trump being destroyed.”
Well, then there’s no real reason for Don and Roger to meet next week. Trump now has grounds for bagging the meeting with Ailes, and letting Fox’s ratings crater as they will.
If he kisses and makes up, they’ll just backstab him again later, closer to actual voting and possibly in some more damaging way. I say, let them stew in their own juices.
Un-acronym it.
