I’m not sure I agree completely with Ben Carson on that – as far as I’ve heard, the component price of produce having to do with labor is about 10%. So DOUBLING the wages you pay someone would only mean a 10% raise in the price of tomatoes. Would Americans be willing to pick tomatoes if they were paid $15-$20 an hour? I have a feeling they would.

If Republicans continue spouting this nonsense they should save their money because they will just lose another election to an avowed communist; blaming American workers (and many of the unemployed) for this financial disaster is absurd. The Americans have responded by voting for communists and foregoing children; the ripple effect of the latter is that nobody needs to buy homes anymore either. Our Republocrat overlords have solved this problem by importing not just foreign workers, but foreigners to do everything Americans did twenty years ago (especially filling homes, classroom seats, and store aisles). Meanwhile, the shrinking number of American taxpayers foots the bill for EVERYTHING given to these foreign invaders.

The premise is based on the illegals working for super lower wages. The dem trend is to increase minimum wage to $15 hour. so that argument goes away as the socialists continue to drive up the minimum wage. As the wages rise there will be a push for more automation.

so even if the part of the premise is correct that illegals will do what Americans won’t — at best this is a temporary problem. However if you legalize the illegal aliens then the illegals and their families are here forever to collect welfare as the jobs dry up due to automation

This is putting the best possible economic face on the problem since .. let’s not forget that these people are BREAKING THE LAW.

True, true and true. I have two daughters and 6 grandkids. All knew how to properly handle weapons by the time they were 8. Why you ask? Because Grandpa is not very optimistic about the USA’s future and when I am gone they will need to look out for themselves and each other.
