True, true and true. I have two daughters and 6 grandkids. All knew how to properly handle weapons by the time they were 8. Why you ask? Because Grandpa is not very optimistic about the USA’s future and when I am gone they will need to look out for themselves and each other.
Very good! May your lineage continue for ages. I’m very tribal like that as well; for decades I’ve felt like a foreigner here (taxpaying, but visiting), and never more so than now. One unintended consequence of “standing down” in the face of the anarchists in Ferguson & Baltimore is the realization by many Americans that their government will not protect them; the increase in gun sales attests to that.
I actually like it when people look out for themselves; dependence on the nanny state was unhealthy anyway. Now if we could just stop paying for it...
