... Yes, I know that there are plenty of decent and honorable people who support Trump. For instance, my friend John Nolte over at Breitbart is one. He constantly celebrates Trump because Trump has all the right enemies and defies the conventional rules governing politics and media: ...

But this is not an argument for Trump as a serious presidential candidate. It is really no argument at all. It is catharsis masquerading as principle, venting and resentment pretending to be some kind of higher argument. Every principle used to defend Trump is subjective, graded on a curve. Trump is like a cat trained to piss in a human toilet. It’s amazing! It’s remarkable! Yes, yes, it is: for a cat. But we don’t judge humans by the same standard ...

If I sound dismayed, it’s only because I am. Conservatives have spent more than 60 years arguing that ideas and character matter. That is the conservative movement I joined and dedicated my professional life to. And now, in a moment of passion, many of my comrades-in-arms are throwing it all away in a fit of pique. Because “Trump fights!” ...

Goldberg is another beltway pundit mediot, who needs to change his Depends and buy the large economy packs of Depends from Costco.

These beltway beltway pundit mediot punks think that they can tell the rest of America how to think and vote.

Sorry Goldvberg, you are losing big time like the rest of the irrelevant beltway pundit mediots.

Trump may very well be a poor president. He might be a bad nominee. I’m sure there are a lot of people in the elites who want Jeb Bush as the next president. They think that things are so bad that the Republican has to win by default. So Trump is spoiling their parade.

I’m not even sure I would vote for him. I sure in hell will not vote if they nominate another Bush. What I like about Trump is that he doesn’t apologize for saying what he says. I don’t think everything he says is serious or even true but I like that he doesn’t apologize.

Jonah if you are reading this I want you to know that I unsubscribed to your daily emails. And all NR spam.

So let’s see Jonah.

Our choice is the establishment Republicans.

I’ll stick with Trump.

I grew up reading William Buckley. I loved the Bill vs Gore debate. But we conservatives keep losing the long game. Crying “Stop!” won’t work anymore — as if it ever did.

Trump may not be the best potential for President and he, certainly, won’t meet the ideological purity test of the establishment right, but he satisfies a key criterion. Given his history in business, he will act. He won’t be beholden to the “powers that be” and he certainly will not give a hoot about impressing the EU elite or corrupt Shia/Sunni nuts.

As importantly, it looks like he will urinate on Calypso Louie’s shoes and invite him to go back to Jamaica.

He might be Sulla (read your Roman history) but without action ASAP we are not going to have a country much longer. It will take much effort to clean out the social marxists but this is a start.

Lucianne has become irrelevant because they do not want to upset Lucianne junior similar to FNC which caters to paterfamilias’s sons. The caterwauling of the supposedly right wing media is approaching absurd levels vis a vis Trump. He is truly Godzilla becoming stronger as he is attacked. The elite, once conservative, media does not understand this.

“Jonah Goldberg isn’t a wanka-blogger. He’s a senior editor at National Review.”

He’s a wanka blogger who has been promoted beyond his capabilities. He’s also a shill and useful idiot for the uniparty.

That said, this wasn’t one of his worst. I’m sure he’ll be firing up the anti trump hit pieces soon enough.

I like Jonah, and I’m glad he is on our side.

But he is wrong here, and he is overreacting. Hysterical almost! I’ve never seen these guys act this way.

More evidence they have no idea just how seriously ticked off people are.

Also, I think so many of the posters at Lucianne seem older - whether they are or not I don’t know but they sound like it.

It’s like Rush always said: there is a certain breed of Republican that loves to be in the minority. They can have a little power and prestige without having to do much of anything. “Oh, we’re trying,” they tell their voters. “But, we’re in the minority, you see. What we can do doesn’t amount to much.” Then they can go to all of the fanciest of cocktail parties and complain to their best liberal friends about that dullard Reagan they had to put up with, or that blowhard Limbaugh who is always trying to upset the apple cart.

Sadly, they are acting that way right now when they are in complete control of Congress. “Let’s make it easier for the President to fast track treaties. After all, we’ll love to have that when we are in the White House.” And then they get into the White House and say, “Oh, it wouldn’t be fair to use the fast track. We’re the nice guys. We play by the rules.” They did that with Reid’s nuclear option. “We didn’t like it when HE used it, did we? It just wouldn’t be sporting!”

At this time in history, we desperately needed someone to oppose Obama at every turn, and instead we got these worms. And they wonder why Trump is blowing the doors off this thing.

Totally misses the real point which is that those "60 years arguing that ideas and character matter" have resulted in the reality of Conservatives being pushed out to the curb and those who espouse those "principles" being willing to allow an Obama in because none of our candidates are conservative enough. Trump is here specifically because of the failure of folks to actually push conservatism instead of just paying it lip service.

The last 3 ‘approved conservative’ candidates weren’t worth the powder and lead to get rid of them.

My first job I worked for a retired sergeant major who looked at me one day and said "Son, you ain't worth the powder and shot to blow you to hell". I eventually got his job when he left.

Jonah Goldberg is proof that Bill Buckley had lost his good judgment when it came time to pick a senior editor.

Either that or Buckley wanted to insure that the magazine would never again live up to its reputation once he was gone.

Ideas only matter if it inspires action.

The conservative movement at places like the NR has turned into a purely intellectual exercise completely devoid of any attention paid to putting things to action.

Trump is exciting people because he’s making them believe that he’ll act.

This is the man who couldn’t have Mark Steyn on his masthead because Steyn has balls.

BTW I am buying a book a month from Steyn to give as Christmas gifts because he needs as much support as he can get.
