Donald Trump on Kim Davis case: ‘The Supreme Court has ruled’
Washington Times ^ | 09/04/2015 | David Sherfinski

Bottom line, host Joe Scarborough said, is that if Supreme Court makes a decision, that’s the law of land, right?

“You have to go with it,” Mr. Trump said. “The decision’s been made, and that is the law of the land.”

“She can take a pass and let somebody else in the office do it in terms of religious, so you know, it’s a very … tough situation, but we are a nation, as I said yesterday, we’re a nation of laws,” he said. “And I was talking about borders and I was talking about other things, but you know, it applies to this, also, and the Supreme Court has ruled."

we’re a nation of laws

If only the courts and executive branch weren't making them up as they go along...instead of the irrelevant Congress.

Goodbye Trump! Hello Cruz! It takes situations like this to see where a man’s heart is!

Sounds like Trump is willing to play second banana to SCOTUS.

SCOTUS is not the Law of the Land. The Constitution is the Law of the Land.

If I were in the magistrate’s position, I am not so sure that I would invoke religious freedom as my first defense.

These cases are more akin to the transsexual in England who demanded an exam for cervical cancer, which the doctor refused, because the patient doesn’t have, and never had, a cervix.

To me the most obvious excuse for refusing is that words mean things. What ever two men or two women may do, it is NOT marriage.

Of course, the doctor in England was ordered to perform the exam. The world is upside down.

Her lawyer explained it this morning. If she "takes a pass" her name is still on that marriage certificate. She can't be fired, as she's an elected official. It's tough to see how this will get her unelected.

I don't see how the objective is any different than that of ISIS in areas they control. They destroy artifacts of past accomplishments and behead people, now in the US we destroy artifacts of past acoomplishments and we confiscate money, shackle and jail Christians for religious beliefs. The goal is the same in both cases.

Message to Mr. Trump. He's the only one who's a force of nature who can clean up the DC sewer. But he has to take a few hours every day to study up on the finer details of issues and current events.

This may be the pin in the party doll moment people are waiting for. The image of the clerk being frog marched is more than most of us can take.

Yes, let’s dump Trump based on ONE issue.

The guy has the ability to turn this country around and drag it from the economic toilet, but on an issue that doesn’t affect the live of 95% of the people on this board, that has ZERO impact on economic stability or national safety, let’s dump him for someone polling at 7%.

Agreed. Civil disobedience is easily the most difficult form of speech to understand and justify, especially by a government official.
When MLK committed acts of CD he did so with the express intent of being arrested for breaking the law. The law was changed in part because patriots disagreed with it and were willing to be punished by the enforcement of an unjust law.
This is precisely what we are facing today with Mrs. Kelly.
As an increasing number of committed Christians are willing to violate the SC’s edict and go to jail there will be increased pressure to change this horrible SC decision.

I dare say Trump has never been pressured to break an unjust law as a matter of principle for which he was prepared to accept the consequences. He may well not understand the issue at all. Clearly Cruz does.

Would your opinion change if a Muslim clerk at an alohol control board refused to issue liquor license or a Muslim usda inspector refused to inspect pork?

I guess it did not occur to him that the “law” that might being broken was by the Feds for violation of her First Amendment right once they arrested her for failing to marry the homos. So now you can arrest someone because they fail to do their job duties. If thats the case there’s a president and a hell of a lot of Senators that need to be arrested or failing to do their jobs protecting the sovereignty and security of our nation, and in fact enabling terrorists to obtain a muclear weapon capable of destroying whole cities and millions of lives!

FOB and his minions.
