we’re a nation of laws

If only the courts and executive branch weren't making them up as they go along...instead of the irrelevant Congress.

Goodbye Trump! Hello Cruz! It takes situations like this to see where a man’s heart is!

Sounds like Trump is willing to play second banana to SCOTUS.

SCOTUS is not the Law of the Land. The Constitution is the Law of the Land.

If I were in the magistrate’s position, I am not so sure that I would invoke religious freedom as my first defense.

These cases are more akin to the transsexual in England who demanded an exam for cervical cancer, which the doctor refused, because the patient doesn’t have, and never had, a cervix.

To me the most obvious excuse for refusing is that words mean things. What ever two men or two women may do, it is NOT marriage.

Of course, the doctor in England was ordered to perform the exam. The world is upside down.

Her lawyer explained it this morning. If she "takes a pass" her name is still on that marriage certificate. She can't be fired, as she's an elected official. It's tough to see how this will get her unelected.

I don't see how the objective is any different than that of ISIS in areas they control. They destroy artifacts of past accomplishments and behead people, now in the US we destroy artifacts of past acoomplishments and we confiscate money, shackle and jail Christians for religious beliefs. The goal is the same in both cases.

Message to Mr. Trump. He's the only one who's a force of nature who can clean up the DC sewer. But he has to take a few hours every day to study up on the finer details of issues and current events.

This may be the pin in the party doll moment people are waiting for. The image of the clerk being frog marched is more than most of us can take.

Didn’t The Supreme Court once RULE that blacks are property?

What is the LAW in the state of Kentucky?
The Clerk is an employee of the state, not the Feds.
Does there not have to be some legislation at the state level, some written law to follow?
As SCOTUS cannot WRITE laws, but is essentially an appelate court, what is the clerk to do?
Or, pray tell, what is the SPECIFIC law that MUST be followed?
And don’t regurgitate “Gay Marriage is legal”, what is the text of the current law?

The problem is... that Trump is missing the bigger issue here.

NO LAW is being broken!

The SUPREME COURT can NOT write laws!

Thus no law is being broken!

It’s a shame that Trump is missing the bigger issue here, because the out of control judiciary is an even bigger issue than illegals.

We need a president that will DESTROY the courts!

I want a president that goes after these lawless judges and has them all removed, replaced and in some cases jailed for their usurpation of the power of the PEOPLE and the constitution.

Actually our nation has a long tradition of honoring the conscience of the individual over the law.

Conscientious objectors are either assigned a non fighting role or excused from duty altogether.

A juror can refuse to convict an obviously guilty man if their conscience tells them that its wrong to convict.

A judge can set aside a jury's guilty verdict if he believes the verdict is wrong.

tough situation, but we are a nation, as I said yesterday, we’re a nation of laws

Since when does the Supreme Court make laws? This might be a deal breaker for me. Surrendering legislative power to the judiciary is not acceptable. If he is not willing to fight this battle, then maybe he's not willing to take on the court if it rules against him on other issues.

It's beginning to look like its Cruz or Lose.

And ZIPPO happens when the Obama administration refuses to enforce immigration laws.
ZIPPO happens to mayors and police chiefs of unlawful sanctuary cities when illegal aliens they release go on to kill US citizens.

Liberal flout the law all the time with zero consequences. But let one lowly county clerk in Kentucky refuse to cater to the gays and all heck breaks loose.
