Donald Trump on Kim Davis case: ‘The Supreme Court has ruled’
Washington Times ^ | 09/04/2015 | David Sherfinski

Bottom line, host Joe Scarborough said, is that if Supreme Court makes a decision, that’s the law of land, right?

“You have to go with it,” Mr. Trump said. “The decision’s been made, and that is the law of the land.”

“She can take a pass and let somebody else in the office do it in terms of religious, so you know, it’s a very … tough situation, but we are a nation, as I said yesterday, we’re a nation of laws,” he said. “And I was talking about borders and I was talking about other things, but you know, it applies to this, also, and the Supreme Court has ruled."

The problem is... that Trump is missing the bigger issue here.

NO LAW is being broken!

The SUPREME COURT can NOT write laws!

Thus no law is being broken!

It’s a shame that Trump is missing the bigger issue here, because the out of control judiciary is an even bigger issue than illegals.

We need a president that will DESTROY the courts!

I want a president that goes after these lawless judges and has them all removed, replaced and in some cases jailed for their usurpation of the power of the PEOPLE and the constitution.

Actually our nation has a long tradition of honoring the conscience of the individual over the law.

Conscientious objectors are either assigned a non fighting role or excused from duty altogether.

A juror can refuse to convict an obviously guilty man if their conscience tells them that its wrong to convict.

A judge can set aside a jury's guilty verdict if he believes the verdict is wrong.

Since when does the Supreme Court make laws? This might be a deal breaker for me. Surrendering legislative power to the judiciary is not acceptable. If he is not willing to fight this battle, then maybe he's not willing to take on the court if it rules against him on other issues.

It's beginning to look like its Cruz or Lose.

Actually, no.
IF a muslim applied for a job as a pork inspector or on the alcohol control board, he would KNOW what is expected going in. Any refusal would be grounds for dismissal.

This decision was imposed on people already in office and with absolutely NO consideration of their rights.

It’s not like Trump can shout about following the rule of law for months and then say, well just ignore this law.

Obviously I think she should not have been arrested but this is not in Trump’s wheelhouse. Let Huckabee, Santorum and Cruz bang this drum. And for anyone here to act like they were previously supporting Trump but now aren’t, you’re less believable than a Frank Luntz focus group.

This is a very important issue, not as important as immigration but still very important if you are a Christian. The left is outlawing the practice of Christianity and persecuting practicing Christians. That is kind of important.

but on an issue that doesn’t affect the live of 95% of the people on this board, that has ZERO impact on economic stability

That is the kind of thinking why we are where we are now. It does not affect me so who cares. Kim Davis, the baker, the florist - sad but who cares it won't affect the rest of us -- until it does.

Who cares to have a flourishing economy if your freedom of speech, freedom of religion is government controlled. Is that far fetched? We would be fools if we still think so.

You are correct. But this woman is the head of the office. She is the boss. Anything that emanates from the office flows from the power vested in her.

She can't escape being "responsible" for the actions done by her office. If this causes her moral strife, then she must resign. There is no possible accommodation, since it is her signature, her power, her authority being used.

She can't step aside and let someone else take the responsibility, because the responsibility is vested in her by virtue of her position.

That is the issue for lawyers and not Donald Trump. This is getting way out in the weeds.

And ZIPPO happens when the Obama administration refuses to enforce immigration laws.
ZIPPO happens to mayors and police chiefs of unlawful sanctuary cities when illegal aliens they release go on to kill US citizens.

Liberal flout the law all the time with zero consequences. But let one lowly county clerk in Kentucky refuse to cater to the gays and all heck breaks loose.

I agree with your concern, but let’s get someone in who can fix the initial problem of this country sliding into socialism!!

After that, you address other matters. I feel assured Trump’s DOJ will not be taking these violations of freedom lightly.

Because we are the ones who are supposed to understand the importance of the rule of law.

Your theory sounds nice but the reality is the left picks & chooses which laws it wants to enforce and the GOP gives them a free pass. The left will happily allow us to fall on our swords for gay marriage in the name of rule of law or whatever. As long as they win, they don’t care how.

Until we brawl like Dems we will lose. We are in a post Constitutional era and must adjust tactics accordingly.

Trump, you can have an opinion about something like this. You did not have to punt.

Trump was speaking as our PRESIDENT . . not as just an American/Christian like the rest of us are.
As President . . he will be compelled to fairly represent ALL Americans . . and that includes Atheists and Gays and (gasp) Liberals, too, along with every other type of American who lives here and pays taxes. As President over ALL Americans . . Trump spoke fairly. We just don’t like the situation but we shouldn’t kill the messenger over it.

Sure there is. What part do you object to? How do you accommodate someone in this situation?

If a Baptist runs the state treasury and decides he isn’t going to issue liquor licenses because of his religious principles, how do you accommodate him?
