How to Lose a Winnable Election
American Spectator ^ | 8/31/2015 | David Catron

Posted on 08/31/2015 5:26:20 AM PDT by rootin tootin

Here’s some electoral history that Donald Trump’s supporters should consider before voting in their GOP primaries: Since 1972, no Republican presidential candidate has won a general election with less than 30 percent of the Hispanic vote. Nixon, Reagan, and both Bushes received between 30 and 40 percent in their successful presidential bids. All of the GOP losers from 1976 through 2012 received between 24 and 27 percent of the Hispanic vote. This includes George H. W. Bush, who lost in 1992 after his percentage eroded to 25 percent from the 30 percent he garnered in his successful 1988 campaign.

It’s probably not necessary, as one GOP pollster has claimed, for the 2016 Republican nominee to win 40 percent of the Hispanic vote to reach the White House. It is, however, obvious that the nominee will have to do far better than the 27 percent received by Mitt Romney. And that’s never going to happen if the Republican nominee advocates deporting 11 million Hispanics, including many who were born here, while vowing to eliminate birthright citizenship under the 14th Amendment. In other words, if the GOP is myopic enough to nominate Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton will be the next president.

Sigh. Playing the Hispanic card again.

Until 2012, no candidate in history had ever won reelection when the "wrong direction" markers in polls were negative. But Zero did.

Every first is a first. And Trump will do FAR better with every group than the polidiots want to believe.

Hey Bonehead! The Latinos that already live here love Trump. He’s going to protect their jobs and keep their wages high by keeping out the illegals.

Been shown repeatedly that Mittens would not have won with 70% of the “Hispanic vote”. What killed him was the millions of conservatives who stayed home. The lesson the GOPee doesn’t want to learn.

So Romney, McCain and Dole won? Perhaps this clown can give us next weeks lottery numbers while he is at it.

Pray America is waking

The more hated Mr. Trump is, the more likely he will win.

The TDS folks claim that “Trump will screw us”. I don’t know that. I do know Boehner, McConnell, Jeb, Kasich, Rubio, Huckabee, Graham, Hillary, Fauxcahontas, Biden, Sanders, et., etc. will.

I agree. Turnout will be the key to the 2016 election. The GOP has been nominating mushy candidates the past several election cycles that people are not interested in.

But given the state of the nation today, and what hangs in the balance, I think (hope) turnout that is favorable to the right will be record-breaking, especially if you have someone as electrifying as Trump.

Romney would have beat obama had he gotten 4% more of the white vote. MUCH easier to get 4% of the 65% that whites make up, than whatever % you claim of the minorities.

But heres the thing. Trump already has that many more white votes, just pulling out of the dim-0 side!

“It is, however, obvious that the nominee will have to do far better than the 27 percent received by Mitt Romney. And that’s never going to happen if the Republican nominee advocates deporting 11 million Hispanics”

In other words, GOP is telling s they will always side with the illegals and they think that hispanics are traitors, more loyal to race than to country.
If the only way we can win elections is to consider 20% of Mexico as a legitimate part of the electorate, then it doesn’t even matter if we win. If we win that only means the repub president will not do anything I want him to anyways.

Go Trump.

Zero did not “win” in 2012. He got close enough to steal it, which is always the Rats Plan B. there was enough chicanery just in our neighborhood to demonstrate that 2012 was not “Kosher”.

Senor Catron. My goal as a sovereign American citizen isn’t just to elect some business-as-usual, lying backstabbing RINO establishment Mother-(you know the rest).

My job is to stop people like that (number one on the list is Jeb Bush) from getting elected, and to see to it no appeasing RINO liar gets there in his stead.

If “Hispanics” want in on it, then fine, but I frankly don’t give a damn. As far as I know, there ain’t one damn word in the Constitution that says “Mexico” or “Hispanics”.

How to lose an election?

Put some Republicans in charge of it.

See? I oughta be writing a published column somewhere.

As usual, no mention of the millions of conservative voters who’ve stayed home during recent presidential elections, or the non-voters who’ll be drawn to the polls for the first time by Trump, or minorities who agree with him concerning our lawless immigration policies.

Same old, same old in this article: thou must pander to Hispanics.

I think you are right. But the GOPee would rather lose than win with it’s base. If the Tea Party types hand the GOP the White House after handing them the Senate and House we might just expect something. They don’t seem to mind doing sneaky, slippery crap for donors but they absolutely can not stand to do what we voted for in broad daylight.

Who is to say that The Donald cannot win a large plurality or even majority of LEGAL Hispanic voters? It is the fraudulent ILLEGAL Hispanic voters that skew the results.

If clean elections, i.e., minimal or no fraud, were ever held in this country, the Democrats would be a forever minority party, and only internal schisms within the Republicans would ever give them a shot at taking any kind of control.

The Republicans are trying very hard to become a multilateral party. It may be well to remind people that the Progressives were once solidly with the Republican party, but the break came almost completely with Teddy Roosevelt and the organization of the “Bull Moose” party. After that, Progressives voted openly with the Democrats all through the New Deal and beyond.
