Cruz on the issues:

1. Voted for and campaigned for the TPA, and then was against it.
2. Voted for the Corker amendment and is now uptight at the Iran deal.
3. Introduced legislation to increase legal immigration by 500% before the border is closed. To our benefit, it was not passed, despite his convictions for it.

What do you want? Protectionism? You know thats a stones throw away from socialism. Get outta here with your stupidity.

My GOD,you are pig-f*ckingly stupid.

Hoover was a protectionist. FDR was a socialist. They are vastly different.

I would like to be able to support Cruz, but Cruz just doesn’t seem to catching on with people.

That's the problem we face. To win a general election, the candidate can't just have the right ideological credentials (which Cruz clearly has). He also has to have the campaign resources and a persona that appeals to a broad group of people. The last time we had a truly conservative candidate with that level of charisma was Reagan. We don't have that now.

So, the weakness of the Democrat field aside, conservatives are truly not in a good place with this election.

RRE: Funny that most of the media covers for Trump and promotes him nonstop. Including Megyn.

You forgot to put the /sarcasm tag on.

As per Trump’s own quote, he was not for the implementation of Obamacare, and progressive taxation has been around for about one hundred years, and this writer tries to pen it on Trump and Obama?

Actually, I did go to the link. I wanted to hear some CONTEXT regarding the things he’s said in the past. Hopefully with links back to transcripts or videos. The link did ok, but some of its links went to recent summaries of Trump’s past statements, and DID NOT provide links. So I couldn’t hear/read everything in context.

What I found was a guy that looked at things in a different perspective than most people.

For example, he was dealing with banks simply shutting off lending in 2008, grinding his work to a halt...so yea, he wanted to get banks lending again. For Social Security and Medicare, he talks only about “people that have been paying in their entire working careers” (or something worded very close to that)...he’s against cutting that. Every conservative that I know of feels the same, or close enough. No one pressed him on younger people. And he says that we can fix SS by growing the economy, hence taking in more revenue. While not technically fixing SS, it would free up tremendous revenue for the government.

The car bailouts...no link to his direct words, so I don’t know the context. A flat tax - he’s simply stating reality - we’ll never get a totally flat tax, but he does support making it much flatter.

His only praise for Obama was in Jan, 2009 (the stimulus), when Obama had 75% of Republicans SUPPORTING HIM. His praise was based on Obama’s words...spend money on infrastructure. Not being an ideologue like Rush, myself, and most people here - Trump didn’t realize that the ‘stimulus’ was a scam. He did 6 months later when he said he hadn’t seen a damn thing come out of it.

On Single Pay. He talks to people, probably only healthy people, in those countries (especially Scotland), and I suspect, to a man, they all say they like it. Walk into a clinic, any clinic, present a card - get great Primary Care. It takes some research to figure out it’s a disaster at the back end, since the media won’t report it. Most people don’t do that research...likely including Trump. But he says three other things - first, there has to be some way to assure people needing medical care get medical care, that Obamacare does not come close to that and has ruined existing health care plans, and that Single Payer cannot work here, because of everything else screwed up in this country...so he’s not too far off, overall.

So call me a Trump apologist if you want, but EVERYONE is spinning stuff and not providing context - go read the transcripts and watch the interview, and ask whether Trump is flaming liberal or not.

“Conservatism is now opposed to free trade... just wow”

Obama loves free trade. Who would ever have ever thought Obama was a true conservative.

I see no support for ObamaCare, just support for the idea of everyone having health coverage.

I see an emphasis on bankers being the cause of the financial collapse under Bush rather than legislators. We must ask ourselves if we really mean it when we say that ‘big money’ owns our legislators. If so, then Dodd/Frank originated with the bankers. Why would THEY want such a system that would collapse and then cede huge power to a central government and central bank?

I can’t imagine. /sarc

Cruz is by far the best candidate. If he wins the nomination, he will CRUSH Hilary Clinton.

Cruz is the most conservative candidate, but not the best candidate. Part of being the best candidate is the ability to connect with voters and to get his message out. As of now, Cruz has not shown that he has the ability to do that. He has to be able to break out of the single digits or his candidacy will go nowhere.

Only if you live under a rock can you avoid contact with those with contrary views

Well.. quite true. Are you insinuating the close relationship between Trump and the Clintons is based on "contrary views?"

When did Obama have 75% of Republicans supporting him? The overall support per RCP never reached that high.

Correct, and even worse... he was for the implementation of Canadian-style, single-payer health care.

He supports single-payer. Remember... his effusive praise for the Canadian system?

Cruz. But he’s polling so low. That’s because conservatives are ONCE AGAIN believing the media. A majority of the Republican people (not the pols) agree with Cruz and would like him to be their nominee. If all the people who said, “I like Cruz, but he can’t win” would just vote for him, he’d win.

This country is already over. What we’re hoping for is to take it back. Trump won’t do that because he’s cool with it. Except illegal alien gangs (which if you listen to him, that’s really all he wants to deport). I seriously think all Trump wants out of being president is some towers in Russia.
