These laws need to be struck down and an example made that this type of nonsense is blatantly Unconstitutional.

Right.

I’ll pay that right after I pay the “liberal idiot” tax.

If they can’t prohibit ownership, they’ll just make it unaffordable by taxing it.

The Second Amendment to our Constitution says what it says:

…..”The right to keep and bear arms shall NOT be infringed”

Words have meanings…….

[[a tax on firearms and ammunition designed to help offset the financial toll of gun violence.]]

Yeah? And how about a tax on ILLEGAL IMIGRANTS to ‘help offset the MASSIVE $500 BILLION+ cost that ILLEGALS wrack up in this country every single year? I dare say ‘gun violence’ costs aren’t anywhere near what ILLEGALS are costing this country every year. How about we make it so expensive for ILLEGALS to live here that they migrate back over into mexico- since the goal of ‘gun violence taxes’ is to make it so expensive for owners that they won’t be able to afford guns (except for the wealthy) then it should also be ok to tax the crap out of ILLEGALS since we’re using costs to justify everything these days

[[”We took a simple and commonsense measure to support gun safety research and prevention methods,” he added. “It’s not in any way an attempt to regulate the sale, use or possession of firearms.”]]

Nope, it’s an attempt to regulate what class of people can own guns by making it so expensive that poor and many middle class won’t be able to afford it- Just like they did with smoking- they made it so expensive that poor and middle class people simply could not afford to keep doing it- this gun violence tax is NO different than that smoking law/tax

Years ago the city of Oakland passed a special Business Tax that stated that any business that sold even ONE gun or ONE round of ammunition had to pay taxes at a higher rate on EVERYTHING they sold. San Francisco did the same thing. It closed Siegle’s Guns in Oakland, and the San Francisco Gun Exchange, and every other firearms business in both cities. So, obviously, it generated no income for the either city.

Where was the NRA then?

[[253 gunshot victims at Harborview Medical Center in 2014 totaled more than $17 million. Taxpayers paid more than $12 million of that.]]

So taxpayers are ALREADY footing the bill, and now the the city wants double taxation by recharging gun owners ? also supposedly the gun violence costs 17 million in that city- let’s average out to 10 million because many states don’t have such high numbers- we’re talking approx. $500 MILLION country wide- compared to $500+ BILLION that illegals cost this country- seems we’ve got our priorities all screwed up huh seattle? How much is the cost of ILLEGALS in your state seattle? Bet it’s WAY more than your inflated number for gun violence at 17 million- who’s paying for that? Yup- taxpayers!

How about taxing the ones who commit violent crimes and not innocent non-violent citizens?

Any bunch of LOCAL HICKS tries this stunt in Texas, they’ll be told to immediately repeal it, or they’ll be jailed.

It’s called ‘per-emption’ and we are SERIOUS about it.

It called the tax legally unenforceable because Washington state prohibits local governments from adopting laws related to firearms unless those local ordinances are specifically authorized by the state.

There's another argument about the absurdity of the law.

It's like proposing a tax on every motor vehicle to finance the public cost created by DUIs, unlicensed drivers carjackers, car thieves and illegal aliens...

Just like the model tax imposed on the "Take Over" morons for hundreds of millions of damage in recent history...

wait...

Why is NRA suing? Why is the state not suing?

Does NRA have standing?
