Even as the Phillips family is struggling for financial existence against punishing government fines for refusing to bake a gay-wedding cake, Donald Trump is doubling down (along with Kasich) on his position as an anti–anti–gay-marriage Republican.
As Paul Dupont points out, Trump, when asked whether gay marriage was a dead issue, did not respond even by saying he would fight for religious liberty, or the right to make a living. He simply said a constitutional amendment is not going to pass, the Supreme Court has ruled, and it’s time to move on.
This is from an interview with The Hollywood Reporter:
THR: You say you would have liked the states, rather than the Supreme Court, to decide on gay marriage. Have you been to a gay wedding?
Trump: Yes, I have. [Broadway theater owner] Jordan Roth. You know Jordan, right? Great guy.
THR: So is this a dead issue for the GOP at this point?
Trump: Some people have hopes of passing amendments, but it’s not going to happen. Congress can’t pass simple things, let alone that. So anybody that’s making that an issue is doing it for political reasons. The Supreme Court ruled on it.
He’s a fighter, allegedly, but not against the biggest powers that be.
So now we have a weird scenario when the princess candidate of the current establishment (John Kasich) and the alleged insurgent are both unwilling to fight against the redefinition of Christianity as bigotry.
I respect Trump enough to take him seriously as a candidate. He could win Iowa. Are there enough people willing to stand up against the real powers that be to either change the candidates’ mind, or oppose him?
This is a central untold drama of the election.
A weak response. A typically liberal one.

Trump’s default position assures the continuation of abortion on demand and the abomination of sodomite pretend “marriage.”

Anyway, as long as “fag marriage” is legally recognized in this country, I’ll never lift a finger for it again. It’s no longer a country I can defend, respect, or declare allegiance to.

Although Trump’s intentions for the country are good, he is basically a low-information presidential candidate like many (most?) other candidates are imo. And he will remain that way until his Constitution-savvy supporters get him up to speed with the Founding States’ division of federal and state government powers as enumerated in the Constitution.
Regarding 10th Amendment-protected state power to prohibit constitutionally unprotected gay “marriage,” his supporters will also need to get him up to speed on the state powers and associated state revenues that the corrupt feds have stealing from the states for the last 60+ years.
Name calling, a typical liberal response.
Trump also let a “tranny” into his beauty pageant (for women) a couple years ago.
Let’s not forget he cheated on his first wife Ivana for reportedly 5 years with second wife Marla Maples.
He’s not the “family values” candidate by a longshot.
You know, I’m getting tired of you judging me or anyone who doesn’t share your extreme positions. If you hate Trump, that’s fine but stand up for your own opinions, don’t try to blame everyone else for them.
In fact, I wouldn’t hold it against you if you loved Bush. I’d just assume you had your reasons and you’re entitled.
Because they got what they want so they don’t have to propagandize anymore. Meanwhile all the unwilling businesses and government workers who are forced to comply will have their concerns ignored by the media. Radio silence on those SOSes. Because all the media has to do is ignore them and they will lose. But if one of the religious objectors actually won a court case, the media would start yapping about it endlessly.
But if you want to let the liberal media harass you into compliance...
Conservatives want to defeat the GOP elites because they’re wrong on the principles and policies that will determine whether the republic survives or not.
Trump wants to defeat the GOP elites too. But he doesn’t differ from them substantially on principles and policy.
He simply wants to take their place and put their power into his own hands.
I don’t like it, but Trump is right. This is a dead issue. Only an idiot doesn’t know it. Google Yuri Besmenov. This was the KGB’s long term goal for 40 years. And it will only get worse. No one man can change it. It takes a conservative purge of academia, media, Hollywood and civil service to achieve it — the same way the Soviets engineered the leftist takeover of those cultural pillars in the first place. Trump needs to focus on sealing the border and crushing illegal immigration.

We cannot make this a dead issue as long as the rights of Christian businessmen are being trampled upon and their businesses are being fined to the point of closure when they are FORCED by law to service a ceremony they object to.
You make this a dead issue, then religious freedom is dead in this country.
I need a President who will fight for the rights of Christians to freely practice their religion even in everyday life, not give up on it.

That's only true if conservatives continue to ignore the principles the republic was premised upon, and keep ignorantly supporting politicians who keep surrendering for us.
Who says the courts won’t overturn victories on *any* issue? Federal courts have made voting an exercise in futility. I still vote, but I’ve learned to expect no significant worthwhile results from it. Why do I still vote? Because it still seems to be the right thing to do. And because people won’t take me seriously in political discussions if I don’t.
I really believe this is our last chance. The others will have to wait four years, and we'll see who is the most reliable conservative at that time.

The Federal Employees in black robes must be impeached. Their presumptive power OVER the federal Constitution to rewrite and over turn basic law as clearly written, understood, and practiced for 150+ years is a form of lawlessness that can NEVER be tolerated in a Constitutional republic.
The so called ‘court’ must fall or our republic will.
No we can not afford to move on, this and every other evil shoved down our throats by that group of lawless Federal employees must be nullified. The lawless employees should be made impudent to change the Constitution as written.
A Constitutional republic can permit only one way to change the law, vote of the people or their legislator.
