Then let the homeless in DC camp out at Lafayette Square and the Ellipse.

AND Along the fence that surrounds the White House and the Vice President’s house.

How about opening the job market? finding help for druggies and mentally ill? putting violent criminals in jail?

I think the problem is that the homeless wind up making a public space (or part of it) their home, which prevents it from being used by anyone else, hence, not really public.

They also say not having health insurance is not a crime, ie. subject to penalty, but can be taxed.

So, we should tax the homeless to make them get homes.

Listen, there’s a tremendous lawn in front of the White House - the quintessential public place who’s main resident only gets to live there if the public says so. If the Federal Government is so concerned with letting the homeless sleep in public places, let them start sleeping on the White House lawn.

Preventing bums from loitering in public places is not making homelessness a crime.

Makes sense to me. There are so many unemployed and unemployable at this time why make an issue of it, especially in light of the bogus labor figures and presidential campaign.

Calling attention to the huge problem of 96,000,000 people out of work by prosecuting the homeless and destitute means Bumbles would have address this outrage without snark. I don’t think that is possible.

The homeless should be rounded up and put to work building the fence between the U.S. And Mexican border.

No need to arrest them. Do what they did in the 50s. Take them to the town/city limits and drop them off. Sleeping outside on the ground there is no different for someone than inside the city limits.

Or take them to the yard of a liberal and leave them there. Because liberals are the reason these people are homeless and should be FORCED to bear the burden of their maintenance.

Forced.

With 40% of the population getting public assistance I’m surprised there are still homeless people.

Homelessness is a real issue. I see it every night that I go to work. Even though there are shelters and such, the amount of street people is incredible.

I gotta say I agree with this, at least as it applies strictly to sleeping overnight. Not if they want to set up permanent camp in a spot and not move on in the morning.

Seems like a simple application of natural law to me. Man needs a place to sleep, by nature. Every living creature, man included, has a natural prerogative to provide themselves with whatever accommodations they can secure. So long as they aren’t trespassing or absconding with the property of others, to deny them this is to deny men basic rights that even a simple creature like a mouse or an ant enjoys.

That topic will be more interesting toward the end of the default process, when the presently more equal animals trade places with them.

The price of most formerly collectible cars is way down so why not do a cash for clunker II and set clunkers out as economic recovery sleeping units. A win win, what’s not to like, recycle and cut carbon feetprints simultaneously...period.
