Lots of Donald Trump‘s Republican presidential candidates have already shredded him for his comments about John McCain, but Rick Perry came out swinging by calling for Trump to basically GTFO.
In case you missed it, the draft-defering Trump attacked McCain today over his war hero status because, “He’s a war hero ’cause he was captured. I like people that weren’t captured.”
Now, for some unbelievable reason, lots of conservatives including the aforementioned candidates thought Trump crossed a line.
Perry was the first to release a statement on The Donald’s latest rambling, this one really going for the jugular (emphasis his):
Donald Trump should apologize immediately for attacking Senator McCain and all veterans who have protected and served our country. As a veteran and an American, I respect Sen. McCain because he volunteered to serve his country. I cannot say the same of Mr. Trump. His comments have reached a new low in American politics. His attack on veterans make him unfit to be Commander-in-Chief of the U.S. Armed Forces, and he should immediately withdraw from the race for President.
For the record, when Trump was asked if he plans to apologize, he said no.
“Trump will implode, he will not be the nominee. The sad thing is watching so many conservatives get suckered by yet another self promoting con artist.”
I (and others) are absolutely positive Trump will not be the Republican nominee. He can’t join the “go along to get along” club because he doesn’t have to lie to the prospective brain-dead voters and party followers to con them into voting for them and then, as we have seen this painfully this year...turn their backs on the very ones who supported them.
He has actually done something no politician has ever done...EARNED HIS OWN MONEY BY WORKING, not by telling the voters one thing, getting their money, and then kicking them in the balls.
We (Trump supporters and cheated Republicans) fully expect a third party and hopefully, the rebuilding of the country and way of life us older people took for granted before 1964.
Perry supported Dewhurst against Cruz in the primary for the senate seat.
Perry has courted the establishment at every opportunity and they ignore him.
He is a "lonely bird." Bless his heart!
Trump can draw blood no doubt....might be sufficient to wake up all the others “to fight” for what we need and show how to do that so the rest of our politicians will learn how they too need to fight. All they know is appeasement at best.
How about if they put themselves in for that bronze star after throwing a grenade into a boat of rice, and get stung by rice grains?

Sounds like you’ve got the knee jerk foolishness all hoarded up already.
Audie Murphy was a war hero. Dakota Meyer is a war hero. Marcus Luttrel is a war hero. That’s what Donald Trump really meant. He’s right just getting captured does not automatically make you a war hero.
I won’t take away from McCain the torture he endured in the Hanoi Hilton. It was terrible and he could have gone home early and declined. So he did that. Since the Viet Nam war McCain has not comported himself so well. Especially in the political arena.
Perry will also give you many reasons to not build a fence.

And by doing so has eliminated himself from any position in a Trump administration.
Trump is going to double down. He might clarify his statements, but apologize? Definitely not. Only sissies think it is a good idea to start grovelling.

I realize you are an Anti Trump guy, but I was hoping he would be able to keep the Politicians feet to the fire on the Economic and Illegal Invader issues he was bringing up.
All it took was a stupid comment. Well, that’s how it goes.
Yeah, he just said POWs are losers for getting caught.
He put his foot in his mouth and he’s toast. He probably lost a good % of the support he just had from this idiotic gaffe. He will disappear soon enough.

Did you listen to the interview? Did you hear his comments? What Trump said was John McCain is a war hero because he was captured (ie not for courageous actions, etc) which he should have added because the voters now days just catch partial sound bites and run with it.
My take on his comments was that he liked war heros who did something to earn that designation other than just being captured. As a military wife during the Viet Nam era I don’t recall anyone thinking McCain was a hero.
I am a conservative. Trump is a liberal. So yes, I am anti-Trump.
People need to realize Trump's moronic comment wasn't just hurtful to McCain. It would be to ALL POWs. They have not disgraced themselves as McCain has. But Trump is what he is.
Well, we will all wait with baited breath and see what happens. It wasn’t just the McCain comment, it was the one about the people who were captured that will do in the Don.
Unfortunately, everything he was talking about will be set aside and McCain will reap the benefit.
The Democrats who Voted for the Community Rabble Rouser over McCain didn’t seem to give a Rats A$$ that he as a POW.
Now they will pull the “how dare you” Routine. Hypocrites.
I guess we’ll see, but it’s not like you haven’t had Trump derangement syndrome for awhile.
