Gov Haley:Confederate Flag ‘Never Should Have Been There’

Friday on CNN, Gov. Nikki Haley (R-SC) said the Confederate flag, which has now been removed from the grounds of the statehouse, caused political battles and personal pain since it went up and declared, “It just never should have been there.”

“It’s a true new day in South Carolina,” she said. “When I came into office, to have a two thirds vote threshold was a huge one. It’s not a Republican/Democrat, white/black, there hadn’t been a billed filed to bring it down since 2007. There was so much of a divide and so much hurt in the compromise of 2000, that no one wanted to talk about it. So it was almost like people just assumed it was going to be there.”

When host Don Lemon asked, “This flag went up in 1962, correct? Do you think it was sort of a poke in the eye to the civil rights movement?”

Haley answered, “You know, I’m not going to try to figure out why people did what they did. I think the more important part is that it just never should have been there. I think that even when it was on the grounds of the statehouse, it was right in front. These grounds are a place that everybody should feel a part of. These grounds are a place that belong to the people of South Carolina. What I realize now more than ever is people were driving by and they felt hurt and pain. No one should feel pain. You know, we can have our disagreements and we can have our policy back and forth, but no one should feel pain something, not over a symbol.”

With the world falling apart, terrorism, murders, abortion, economy, constitution being trampled on, all our elected officials can do is worry about a flag?? Utterly hopeless.

The flag didn’t go up in 1962 but in the 2000 compromise at it’s last location. It’s removal today proves that giving in to leftists gets you nothing. At least they stopped the flag before it kills again.

BTW, if anyone thinks this will appease the permanently outraged crowd then they’re a moron.

But she made a “courageous” decision. Hint: it’s not courageous if you’re not sticking your neck out. She has only benefited from it.

She leaves herself wide open foor the obvious question — “so why didn’t you take it down sooner?. So you only took down the flag out - now - out of political fear and convenience rather than any particular belief on your part? Don’t you think the public will see right through that?”

the flag of a government created to deny equal rights to a portion of mankind.

Please, brother patriot, deign to read something like this

http://www.wnd.com/2010/09/209597/

Or any number of universally-respected sources so you can understand a little more about what that flag is, what it was, and what the Confederacy was all about. Please - if only so you can for once see a history other than that taught by the modern schools.

So it begins, Revisionist History.

Let's check the text of SC's secession declaration to find their reason for leaving:

"For twenty-five years this agitation has been steadily increasing, until it has now secured to its aid the power of the common Government. Observing the forms of the Constitution, a sectional party has found within that Article establishing the Executive Department, the means of subverting the Constitution itself. A geographical line has been drawn across the Union, and all the States north of that line have united in the election of a man to the high office of President of the United States, whose opinions and purposes are hostile to slavery. He is to be entrusted with the administration of the common Government, because he has declared that that "Government cannot endure permanently half slave, half free," and that the public mind must rest in the belief that slavery is in the course of ultimate extinction.

This sectional combination for the submersion of the Constitution, has been aided in some of the States by elevating to citizenship, persons who, by the supreme law of the land, are incapable of becoming citizens; and their votes have been used to inaugurate a new policy, hostile to the South, and destructive of its beliefs and safety."

On the 4th day of March next, this party will take possession of the Government. It has announced that the South shall be excluded from the common territory, that the judicial tribunals shall be made sectional, and that a war must be waged against slavery until it shall cease throughout the United States.

The guaranties of the Constitution will then no longer exist; the equal rights of the States will be lost. The slaveholding States will no longer have the power of self-government, or self-protection, and the Federal Government will have become their enemy.

Sectional interest and animosity will deepen the irritation, and all hope of remedy is rendered vain, by the fact that public opinion at the North has invested a great political error with the sanction of more erroneous religious belief.

We, therefore, the People of South Carolina, by our delegates in Convention assembled, appealing to the Supreme Judge of the world for the rectitude of our intentions, have solemnly declared that the Union heretofore existing between this State and the other States of North America, is dissolved, and that the State of South Carolina has resumed her position among the nations of the world, as a separate and independent State; with full power to levy war, conclude peace, contract alliances, establish commerce, and to do all other acts and things which independent States may of right do.

Apparently they appealed to god to help them keep their slaves, and that appeal lost in trial by combat. Maybe if they had left for a just reason they would have been smiled upon from above...

Now that they have gotten rid of the “BATTLE FLAG”, every one will be joining hands and sing “KUMBAYA”. NOT! Once these people have seen how easy it was to force these politicians to “CAVE IN”, they’ll be going after something else. As in Tennessee, they are getting rid of the statue of Bedford Forrest. These liberals, socialists and communists will be doing what Joseph Stalin did in the old RUSSIA. They will get rid of every historical statue, flag or building that will remind people of their history. Just why do you think ISIS is destroying all historical artifacts in the middle east?

One thing that really bugs me is when people complain about the South “still fighting the Civil War”. No we’re not. We’re just remembering the valor of those who fought, suffered and died in it. The South’s detractors are the ones restarting the war with their relentless jihad against the Confederate veterans of the war and those who remember them. By the way, I had family on both sides and respect them all.

One of the reasons why the POTUS needs to be born of two citizen parents. It gives the best opportunity for a child to grow up with a sense of the country deep within.

Gov Haley was a shining star. A successful, first-generation sparkler making her way and making waves. Rather than letting the people of SC decide an important issue of identity and history, she wiped it all away.

Character is revealed when you’re up-against-it.
Sadly, the Ruling Class has no character at all.

Please, brother patriot, deign to read something like this

Why, when it is so disenguous and I can read the actual secession declaration that South Carolina passed in 1861?

"Historians disagree about whether the war would have happened “with or without slavery.” Slavery was a national evil, the great mainstay of the agrarian South and a catalyst for polarized politics and violent action on both sides. But even Southerners have now forgotten about the enormous and complex roster of constitutionally based complaints regarding tariffs, direct and indirect taxation, the extraordinarily significant issue of nullification, innumerable federal impositions and more, and more, which led the Confederate states to draft their declarations of secession."

Please read the ACTUAL South Carolina secession document I linked above. You won't find talk of tariffs at all. Just protecting slavery.

Please don't confuse the South Carolina threats of secession in 1832 with why they seceded in 1861. They were quite explicit, and only by ignoring their declaration can anyone try to assert they had some other, hidden, justification.

Nikki Haley is a woman of the night who lays down for the lunatic left and takes the cash they give her back to the race hustling pimps she dances for. If she thinks she has new friends of this is the end, she is insane.

It is wise to acknowledge what one is capable of knowing and processing; one's ability to refuse unfamilar ideas shows strength of spirit and intellectual bravery. Let us then all repeat as I too was taught in third grade: the war was about slavery.
