Father Michael Pfleger was heckled on Thursday by pro-gun advocates while he gave a message at the St. George Catholic Church in Tinley Park, Illinois.
Pro-gun hecklers booed Pfleger and claimed he was violating their rights, noted WGN-TV (video below).
According to CBS Chicago, the Illinois State Rifle Association urged its members to show up at what it called a gun control recruitment event at the church.
"I'm neither a gun-grabber, nor am I against the Second Amendment. I want people who own guns to be held responsible for the guns that they own," Pfleger stated in the church to mostly applause by attendees.
Pfleger did say he wanted a ban on assault weapons and high capacity magazines, which brought jeering from pro-gun folks, CBS Chicago reported.
At one point, Rev. Ken Fleck, the pastor of the church, told the pro-gun hecklers to be quiet or leave the sanctuary.

I don't understand why the Archdiocese of Chicago tolerates him. I believe the late Cardinal Francis George suspended briefly from his pastorate a couple of times, but he has never been effectively disciplined, let alone transferred or laicized.
I think it's fair to say that the present Archbishop of Chicago, Blaise Cupich, doesn't really give a flip that heretics control whole parishes in Chicago.
Perhaps we ought to keep in mind that a Fr. Pfleger's foster son was killed by random gunfire in the street maybe 15-20 years ago. That may explain his stance against guns. He has principally campaigned against violence in the high-crime neighborhoods of Chicago, tried to drive drug dealers, gangs, and pimps out of the area, forcefully criticized gangsta rappers who glorify street crime and the sexual abuse of women ("hos" and "bitches"), and worked hard to clean up his own neighborhood.

Heckling and shouting down a speaker in a church is wrong.
I agree the “priest” is wrong.
The tactics used here are seriously out of line—because if it is accepted, soon you will have hatemongers shouting down ministers of the TRUE gospel.

Pfleger has established a power base at Saint Sabina, one of the most active and most prominent black Catholic parishes in the city.
Normal diocesan policy is to rotate pastors every five - ten years, partly to prevent individual priests from developing “cults of personality”, in which the loyalty of the parishioners is focused on the man, not the Word of God. That’s exactly what happened at Sabina.
I don’t know how many decades Pfleger has had the run of that parish. Extending his stay early on was probably defensible - he was and is very dedicated to his black parishioners, if in a somewhat messed up way. But the longer he stayed, the harder it became to move him. I’m certain Cardinal George would’ve replaced him in a heartbeat, but the racial tension that move would have engendered was probably judged to be too great a price to pay.
The archdiocese continues to pay for a mistake made decades ago - not cycling Pfleger through the system before it became too late.

No. He is not. He wears the garb of a Catholic Priest and refers to himself as such, but he most definitely is not Catholic. In fact he brings shame on the Church.

Actually, he is very much a priest, ordained in 1975.
Catholicism is not a democracy, it is obedience. The Catholic Church declares he is a priest. An inability to even state that level of truth, by those who lie about in the name of being "true" Catholics, is pathetic.
At least have the moral courage to leave the Church if you disagree with it, instead of misrepresenting what it really, actually is.

I doubt there's a single actual practicing Catholic who attends Pfleger's creepy Obama-worshipping, black liberation "church". None of the "speakers" he invites to his "church" are Catholic. Interesting enough, about half his "fans" on his facebook page are members of the Nation of Islam, and a handful are openly atheist. Whatever he's preaching at his "church", it sure as hell isn't Christianity.
The sad thing is the spineless Archdiocese of Chicago is responsible for allowing this lunatic to get away with his mob-mentality sideshow for years. Pfleger is allowed to call himself a Catholic for the same reason that Lisa Murkowski is allowed to call herself a Republican.
