UK police investigate 'stark figures' of 1,400 high-profile child sex abuse suspects

Police in the United Kingdom say they are investigating allegations of child sex abuse involving more than 1,400 suspects as they respond to a surge in complaints sparked by the Jimmy Savile scandal.

The numbers were revealed by Operation Hydrant, which was set up to look at historical child sex abuses.

They include allegations against 76 politicians, 43 people from the music industry and others from the sporting world.

There are hundreds of claims listing 357 separate institutions, including schools, children's homes and religious institutions.

More than 200 of those identified are now dead.

"These figures are stark. They indicate the scale of child abuse police are dealing with," said chief constable Simon Bailey, who is leading the Operation Hydrant.

"Many victims have now found confidence to report abuse, knowing we will treat them sensitively, respectfully, listen to them and take reports of their abuse seriously."

Overall, there has been a 71 per cent increase in complaints about long-hidden incidents of sexual abuse of children since 2012, when Savile was exposed as a prolific and predatory paedophile.

Scots VIPs in child abuse probe
The cases stretch back seven decades, as far as 1947, while the most recent dates from 2013.

So far, police in Scotland have identified 80 ‘named suspects’ of whom 26 are now dead, including former Solicitor General and Tory MP Sir Nicholas Fairbairn, Bob Henderson QC, and Bay City Rollers manager Tam Paton.

Theresa May, the Home Secretary, told rank-and-file officers the picture was the "tip of the iceberg."

Bailey, the head of Norfolk Police and lead on child sex abuse for the National Police Chiefs Council, said the scale of child abuse was "stark."

"The numbers I refer to today are a snapshot in time," he said.

Why will it be 2023 before this is concluded?

It makes me nauseous to type this, but to the wackos and creepozoids, this is not criminal. They are ‘exploring’ sexuality.

Lets clarify, this was 1400 people who were investigated, not 1400 with proof against them, or charged or jailed.

It is a little disturbing to me that we have 1400 people having been ‘investigated’ going back as far as 50 years, apparently and there is no mention of what seems to be a systemic problem with “Asians” abusing young girls and women in present day England (London, principally).

From a long-term problem perspective, the “Asian” attitude of abuse of women and the degree to which this happens is more disturbing. So, in this regard, with all the interest and resources devoted to 1400 specific individual cases, where is the program plan for this “Asian” problem?

[”Asian” as used here isn’t the usual ethnic/nationality tag one would use. But it seems descriptions coming from UK media always prefer to use it when they cannot or will not say what group it really pertains to. IMO, You cannot solve a problem unless you can correctly name it.]

The devil is pushing pushing pushing.

With the decay of the old standard concepts of family and the various kinds of healthy love based in God that made them work (not that the implementation was perfect by any means but it beat the alternatives all hollow most of the time) then it’s anything goes, and weak liberal concerns for the well being of very young people can not stand against the waves of lust.

Unless the perps are “Asian”, of course.

A way to ignore the current problems with Islam rape and rampant sexual abuse by putting out titillating long-ago and just so stories.

76 politicians? Is one Bill Clinton? Any of those 76 go to Epstein’s Sex Island? Could help torpedo Hillary’s campaign if any of those 76 was on the island with Bill.

This is a historic investigation of people in power or institutions. The Muslim sex abuses are a separate issue/separate investigations.

First point, see my reply above.

Second point, I agree. There needs to be a comprehensive plan for dealing with Muslim sex abuse, both past and present, both withing the community and outwith. I will be honest, I haven’t followed the issue much in the last few months, so I might have missed articles/news on any plan.

Knowing the (usually admirable) British penchant for ‘bumbling through’, there probably isn’t one yet or only the bare bones.

Go Right to the Heart of the British Establishment

I think if we dig deeply enough, we will see why the "Establishments" of UK and Europe are so reluctant to go after Islamists. I think the Rotherham child "grooming" conspiracy is just the visible tip of something that is very ugly.

I think the ultimate "clients" of the Muslim groomers were members of the "Establishment" who wanted suitably prepared children.
