This was the bill, now amended, that was pulled from the floor on Jan 22. I do not see a roll call, yet. Not absolutely certain who the 9 aisle=crossers are. And about 8 more absent.
Confirmation that dims are the party of death.
we could use a pro-life ping
All show. This won’t pass Obama’s desk.
Time for kneemail. Prayers this passes Senate and Obama because this will take a miracle.
20 weeks... 140 days... 10 days shy of 5 months... halfway to delivery...
And Democrats bitch about the “mean Republicans...” Well, those Democrats can go to Hell.
BTTT!
The “20 week ban” is pretty political and watered down from the vision of January’s “March for Life” founder Nellie Gray, who envisioned a Human Life Amendment protecting human life from the moment of conception.
The National Right To Life Committee and GOP Establishment are tied at the hip and they roll this thing out to use as a Karl Rove emotional “wedge issue” to keep us all on the Republican plantation.
“Yes Massa Boehner.....Yes Massa McMconnell.....”
This was nothing more than a symbolic act. Even if it passes the Senate, the Liberal Messiah would veto it within a minute of it reaching His desk and there’s no chance of a veto override.
“Not absolutely certain who the 9 aisle=crossers are. And about 8 more absent. “

Based on my recollection of past votes, here are my guesses on the aisle-crossers:
Pro-abortion “Republicans” that voted against the 20-week abortion ban:
Richard Hanna (NY-22)
Bob Dold (IL-10)
Charlie Dent (PA-15)
Rodney Frelinghuysen (NJ-11)
Pro-Life Democrats that voted for the ban:
Dan Lipinski (IL-03)
Collin Peterson (MN-07)
Henry Cuellar (TX-28) (he sometimes votes pro-abortion, but wouldn’t oppose a bill like this)
One of the Democrats that occasionally vote pro-life (likeliest candidates are Stephen Lynch of MA-08, Sanford Bishop of GA-02, Jim Langevin of RT-02 and Marcy Kaptur of OH-09)
Pro-life Republican that voted Present because the bill wasn’t pro-life enough:
Rob Woodall (GA-07) (who joined Paul Broun in voting against a similar bill a couple of years ago because it didn’t ban abortions after 20 weeks)
OK, I just checked out the tally: http://capwiz.com/nrlc/issues/votes/?votenum=223&chamber=H&congress=1141
I was correct about the four pro-abortion “Republicans.”
I was correct about the three pro-life Democrats, and the fourth Democrat to vote for it was Langevin (hopefully this means that he’s returning to the pro-life fold after voting mostly pro-abortion for most of the past decade)
And it was a different GA conservative Republican that voted Present: freshman Jody Hice of GA-10 (Broun’s successor). I guess that Woodall realized that voting for the bill would di a lot more for eventually banning all abortion than to vote against it or to vote Present.
Democrats, Renee Ellmers hit hardest.
This bill is evil and I don’t support it. I’ll let others comment on the cheap political deal aspects of this and how it serves to once again keep conservatives on the plantation. I would rather discuss the evil that underpins it.
So what this bill would do if it becomes law, is to make abortions illegal after 20 weeks. However, abortions are just fine up to 19.9999 weeks. So let me ask our esteemed supporters of ProLife, Inc. a question: what right do you have to make a horsetrade to exchange the lives of a small number of babies by effectively authorizing the extermination of the many?
If you ever wanted to see a deal with the devil in all its damnable glory, this is it. All it’s missing is the belch of brimstone.
If a law was passed that banned all abortions except those done to abort when a woman is raped by her own father, and the developing baby in the womb was implanted incorrectly in the uterus threatening the physical life of the mother, demonstrably so with scientific evidence (ultrasounds showing dangerous hemorrhages and DNA tests proving the father of the woman was the father of her child and forensic evidence demonstrating he raped her)..
...all of which to occur would be less than 0.01ths of one percent of all rape/incest/health of the mother cases...
...even if such a law were passed that saves the lives of literally millions of babies a year...
...some would STILL not be satisfied and would call such a law “evil” because it doesn’t seek to save every baby.
Just sayin’. Also just askin: How many countless millions more must die before we get such a perfect law?
If anyone else can sleep soundly at night willing to sacrifice babies NOW until and unless some future dream occurs (a big IF in today’s “culture” to be sure) well then that’s on them. All I know is, I certainly can’t have that on my conscience.
All I know is, I can’t sleep with my conscience burdened with the fact that I’m not supporting laws that can save at least ONE baby. Because you know what, Mr Purist?
Even ONE life matters, just as much as a billion.
They should have named it the “Roe v Wade Compliance Act”.
That would have set the Libtards off.
Roe v Wade limited Abortion to a Fetus that could not live outside the Womb. A Viable Fetus was protected.
I don’t think they came up with a Gestation limit. The Technological advances in Preemie Care have pushed back the Viability timeline to at least 20 weeks or less.
Have to play the Game to advance the Ball downfield.
BTTT for today!
This is a fully-formed little human. No one can kid themselves that this little one is not a pre-born BABY.
THANK YOU so much for starting this thread!
