Sometimes I think that Rush Limbaugh is the dumbest man in America. This happens whenever I take him at face value and forget that he is basically an entertainer with contempt for his audience.
He will tell them anything. Last week, as if to validate my opinion of him, he went after Michelle Obama for playing the “race card” at the dedication of a museum in New York City. He described her as angry and complaining. The word he should have used was “right.”

You know I take no pride in speaking this way. The first African American First Lady and the opportunity is blown FOREVER.
They had a great opportunity to lift up their community but used the opportunity to divide and destroy.

Richard Cohen has made a career of being a sycophant for Democrat luminaries that are, up close, rather intolerant and not particularly nice people. And Michelle LaVaughn Robinson Obama fills this basic requirement very well.
She APPEARS angry almost all the time, and has expressed no great love of America as a concept. Living a life that in objective terms, has been that of a child of privilege, she has never learned many of the life lessons in manners or empathy. One suspects that the marriage she shares with the Current Occupant now squatting in the White Hut is largely lived on two separate levels compartmentalized from each other, and it was more a marriage of alliance for the purpose of directing and guiding the Current Occupant, than for any feelings of romantic love. Not that Michelle is the controller (that job is left to Valerie Jarrett), but Michelle has to maintain the facade of domestic tranquility for these Washington years, and to keep The One’s worst transgressions at least partly hidden from public view.
Why are the First Ladies of recent Democrat Presidents always such mean and ungrateful persons of unearned privilege? Not since Lady Bird Johnson has there been one with a shred of grace.
We know what she is. We know what her defenders are. We know what BHO is. We know what his enablers are. We know what media mouthpieces are. We know what NEA teachers are. We know what gay activists are.
That we mumblingly tolerate all this will be our bitter shame one day.

Does it? That's something I'd like to hear African-American thinkers talk about. Herman Cain and Ben Carson or Walter Williams and Thomas Sowell would take a very different point of view than Richard Cohen, who clings to a very pandering and patronizing notion of what it means to be Black.
Surely many African-Americans have felt patriotic about other things than Obama's election. I'm not sure how Cohen's contribution to the discussion is any more valuable than Palin's or Limbaugh's would be.
The thing is, though, by the time the last post is made to this thread more awful, unwarranted stuff will have been said about Cohen than he's said himself about other people in weeks. In that sense, he wins.

The subtle choices of color that artists make are part of what makes great paintings great. Photographs can never do them justice, which is why I usually say that you haven't actually seen a painting until you've seen it in person.
