The political map shows the dramatic contrast between Yellow Scotland and Blue England.

Labour is so battered there are blotches of Red here and there in England.

Of all the political losers, Labour's rebuilding job after its Scotland wipeout appears to be an arduous one.

Its a change of epic proportions and Scotland and England for all practical intents and purposes, are different countries.

So, unlike the US, the commies/enemedia have not yet changed their color to Blue, and making their opponents into commie red?

There is a very funny picture available of Maggie Simpson next to the election map. Pretty accurate with the colors. That being said, I am wondering how the SNP has so many seats when their area has only 4.8 percent of the vote. Maybe their ‘gerrymandering’ long ago gave Scotland more seats to keep them in the fold?

I pointed that out to my British husband last evening. It was hard for me not to get excited when the red won seats.......I had to explain that the Republicans used to be the blue Party but the Left changed it so they couldn’t be so easily cast as Communists. Do you know when the colors were changed? And by whom exactly?

Nah—they’re pretty much 50/50 once you add the Scots, Lib Dems and Labour together, as well as the Tories and UKIP.

Like the US they really play a 50-50 game, going just far enough to the center to aim for a slight majority.

Sadly for them, their center is to the left even of ours.

By the real reds - the commie media. And the right in this country didn’t do a thing about it, they just let them get away with it.

Blue is for the Tories, Red for Labour, Yellow for the SNP, Orange for the Liberal Democrats and various colors for Northern Ireland represent parties there.

I think the idea years ago was to switch back and forth, but, I guess at random (yeah, right), the enemedia froze in place the 'Rats with blue in the 2000's.

Here is what it should look like:

My understanding is that there is actually an innocent explanation for this. Up to the 2000 election it was standard TV practice to color code incumbents as blue and challengers as red. In 2000 Al Gore, the closest thing to an incumbent, was color-coded blue and Bush red. After the election there was so much talk of Blue America vs. Red America given the electoral map that the colors are now stuck where they are.

Such a silly thing to worry about. How about red is life...the color of blood. I guess I like red especially a car.

Speaking of UK bellwethers, here’s an interesting factoid:

Bellwether Seats

Reading West and Thanet South maintained their 100% records of siding with every election winner - or biggest party - since their creation in 1983. Bristol North West’s string of success goes back further, to 1974, the same as that of Loughborough and Watford. But Dartford, maintaining its unofficial title as Britain’s best bellwether constituency, resoundingly voted in favour of the Conservatives to keep up its unbroken run since 1964.

As I recall, it started with a county election map in USA Today for Bush Gore 2000. The libs started calling Republican areas "Red" and have keep with it ever since.

Red has always been the color of Communists and Socialists. I hate the fact that the MSM now calls Republican states "Red States".

It used to be blue was the incumbent party and red was the challenger, and with the GOP holding the White House so much for so long it SEEMED like blue was GOP but it wasn’t. Then the 2000 election happened with all of its drama and the “blue state-red state” discussions started and the colors of that year (blue for incumbent dems, red for challenger GOP) stuck.

Scottish Nationalists won 56 of 650 seats, or 8% of the UK Parliament, which is the same as the Scots percentage of the UK population.

Silly my ass

The media purposely did not want The color red to be locked on Democrats because of the connotation of communism

It was by no means an innocent fix....that is poppycock

Between 76 and 2000 they alternated each national election

Imagine the PR damage to Dems I f every time one looked at electoral maps the saw Dems as red like Commies

To stupid America it’s easy to just vomit out simple crap and they lap it up

The media knew this and fixed it....they collude

You ever hear of murraymom?
