First Thing Gov. Scott Walker Did Before Delivering Big Speech at NRA’s Annual Meeting

NASHVILLE — Before mentioning the National Rifle Association or even firearms at the gun rights group’s annual meeting in Nashville on Friday, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, a Republican, asked all the men and women in the audience who serve or have served in the armed forces to stand so they could be properly thanked.

“Freedom. Endowed by our Creator. Defined by our Constitution, but defended each and every day by the men and women who proudly wear the uniform of these United States,” Walker began.

He then asked anyone who is serving or has served in the military to stand and be recognized. Predictably, the audience immediately erupted in applause.

The governor said he carries patches with him every day to remind him of the men and women from the National Guard units in Wisconsin that are still deployed today.

Prior to that, Walker received a standing ovation when he was introduced on stage — and it would be the first of several during the speech that was well-recieved by attendees...

Cruz and Walker would make a good pair of running mates.

Bush , Paul etc can take a flying leap.

I would hope that every American office-pholder, from vector control & dog catcher to county commissioner, state represent-a-give, congresscritter and governor would respect the armed forces. Sadly, that is not the case in many instances.

Oh good grief.

In that case, you’re wrong. The first thing he did was split from a single cell.

He was very precocious when he was young.

I guess you can also say, the last thing he did after the meeting was to die.

I suspect we’ve seen our last president who is also a veteran.

But, he hasn't.

Mr. Howerton should invest in a spell-checker, if he wants to appear to be a professional.

Good for Walker. Now if he can just get his amnesty stance straight, that would be cool. Until then, screw the GOPe. GO TED CRUZ!

He didn’t pay even one of them nearly enough.

Cruz would have been far less coarse.

Just listened to Ted Cruz at the NRA convention. He spent his morning at Ft. Hood honoring those who were receiving the Purple Heart today. These were awarded as the result of legislation that Ted Cruz introduced on the Senate floor.

Ted Cruz has long given legal respresntation to the NRA and is the attorney who won a major case before the Supreme Court. He led in the Senate against the last legislation that the Obama administration brought to attck the Second Amendment. Actions always speak louder than words.

Oh Lord! Do pray this is not so. Ya’ believe Sen Tom Cotton would ever consider running? This MAN is in my sights and will be tracking him to see where he might land. Wishing him success in whatever his endeavors may be.

I do like him - but I’m still a Cruiser. I suspect that Walker (once and for all) will get it right on Amnesty, so I don’t worry too much there. If he does get the nomination, I will do all I can for him.
