Obama to ban bullets by executive action, threatens top-selling AR-15 rifle

It’s started.

As promised, President Obama is using executive actions to impose gun control on the nation, targeting the top-selling rifle in the country, the AR-15 style semi-automatic, with a ban on one of the most-used AR bullets by sportsmen and target shooters.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives this month revealed that it is putting the ban on 5.56mm ammo on a fast track, immediately driving up the price of the bullets and prompting retailers, including the huge outdoors company Cabela’s, to urge sportsmen to urge Congress to stop the president.

Too bad the GOP was so stupid as to run a liberal rino for a second time against the will of the right wing who supports the republican platform but not the rino liberal GOPees of the Bush type.

Don't blame our fellow FReeper for what people who voted for Lyndon Johnson and Bill Clinton accomplished, which was the conscription of millions of ignorant and criminal people to vote for the Democratic Party and its criminals, based on handouts and rhetoric about "helping" people.

Conservatives who threw up on Romney are and were not responsible for the repulsive strategizing and mass exclusion tactics practiced by Karl Rove and other Romneyphile political manipulators.

They made this bed, not conservatives. They made it twice and lost twice.

And how many shooting deaths does the AR15 account for?

CHOICE killed about 3,300 today.

It'll do the same tomorrow.

Can someone tell me why we are worried about ISIS again?

They are not children of Belize! How dare you!

They're children of Moloch and Asmodeus instead.

I was screaming in my head reading these comments at work and couldn't respond. The libs are wetting themselves watching us fight amongst ourselves. What's in the past is in the past. We can probably stop this one by phoning our congressmen and women. It's a very popular round.

On a side note; America is starting to look Biblical in it's rapid decline. I encourage all of us to start looking to God for guidance.

Agreed and it’s tiresome every election to see the “purists” fall on their collective swords rather than realize that a President McCain or Romney would have been leagues better than Obama.

This is not specific only to steel core ammo (M998 is ball ammo BTW). Read the BATFE definition of AP ammo. Steel core is NOT a requirement.

Armor piercing ammunition

18 U.S.C., § 921(a)(17)(B)
•A projectile or projectile core which may be used in a handgun and which is constructed entirely (excluding the presence of traces of other substances) from one or a combination of tungsten alloys, steel, iron, brass, bronze, beryllium copper, or depleted uranium; or

•A full jacketed projectile larger than .22 caliber designed and intended for use in a handgun and whose jacket has a weight of more than 25 percent of the total weight of the projectile.

The only exception is based on the US Attorney General exempting rounds used for sporting or specific industrial purposes (BTW the AG is anti-gun). The new EO rule is stating that 5.56mm and any round available in a handgun platform that can penetrate soft body armor is no longer deemed as exempt for sporting purposes.

As you will note, the requirement for armor piercing is that the ammo is larger than .22 caliber and can be made from any number of common alloy casings in whole or in combination. A steel or solid core is NOT a requirement (i.e green tip ammo).

As I stated, using the BATFE definition of AP, this rule change could include all high velocity ammo that is capable of penetrating soft body armor and can be found in a handgun platform. This is basically any high velocity caliber ammo from .223/5.56 to .50 caliber.

The sole purpose of this rule change is to implement two criteria for removing the “sporting purposes” exemption. 1. can penetrate body armor; 2. can be found in a handgun platform. Any rifle ammo that meets these two criteria are eligible for losing the exemption. That is the point of this rule change!

You’re exactly right. But because of all the bitching and moaning about who is to blame for this mess, people haven’t read the memo and don’t realize how dangerous this EO may actually be.

My 20 year-old sister goes on roller coasters all the time. She and her friends go to Busch Gardens in Tampa several times a year and they enjoy those rides.

I don’t like any ride with a drop. I don’t like to be spun around either.

I agree that the decline is rapid. Obama is using his second term to solidify RAT power for decades to come.

I cannot be spun around at all, not even on the ferris wheel. I have ridden a ferris wheel exactly once, and it did not end pretty.

The steel coasters I used to be able to ride as a youngster, but the last one I rode on in Jazz land went forwards and backwards over two loops and a fall over loop, and if had not ended when it did, I probably would have died on that, no joke. I was probably already starting to have early heart troubles at the time, and that ride did not help at all.

I love a wooden coaster though, not too much G forces on those, so I can tolerate them, and tey do not go backwards, so thank God for that!

People voted their conscience and their principles. That is admirable. Since we all knew the consequences, I don’t particularly want to hear complaining from those who stayed home or voted 3rd party. Elections have consequences. Some thought Romney was as bad as Obama. I disagree. As bad as Romney was, he is not Obama. We have obviously never had anyone like Obama.

I was prepared to fight Romney the day after an inauguration. If there was a million man conservative march opposing his policies, I would have flown to D.C. to join in. I would have been on talk radio opposing his policies where I disagreed.

I agree, but I don't understand bringing this up on every thread. It's tiring
and serves absolutely no purpose at all. It's hijacking every thread.

Choose a candidate. They don't have to be in your state either. Way back when
I was pulling for Thune when he was backed by George Allen, he won, and beat Tom Daschle handily.

So any help you give to any candidate does make a difference.

Your response elicits no serious disagreement from me, other than the point you keep urging that conservatives somehow failed America by not turning out for Conspirator Rove's parlor-pink socialist waffles in the sort of numbers they did for Bush's attempt to return to office in 2004, when conservatives (encouraged by Rove and that year's CREEP) turned in down-ballot initiatives in defense of marriage that brought the conservatives to the fight.

Conservatives answered a call in 2004 that was never made thereafter.

The GOP for reasons of its own (I think) deliberately punted the 2008 election so the Democrats could carry the ball on getting rid of employer-paid health care plans.

In 2012 Obama hadn't finished the job, so Rove and company trotted out the rissoles in the forum of Mitt Romney, who'd been rejected in 2008. So where was the call, in 2012, except from Sarah's tour bus? Rove kept her and others out by muddying the waters and splashing all the meager (for conservatives) available political money out of the pool.

Where was the call?

I know what Mitt Romney said about Texas, when Texans were fighting the Democrat lawsuit to delay our primary election until the fight was all over, so Texas conservatives could have no voice in the nomination race. Mitt Romney was asked why he planned no campaign visits to Texas. He replied, cynically -- and I can quote him exactly, almost three years later -- "They'll come to me when I'm the last man standing."

Way to impress me, Mittens. By the way, your planet's calling. They want their god back.

Vote for that? Are you kidding? Who would want to? If some Republican said stuff like that back in the 50's, what do you think people would have said and done? Vote for him? Not hardly. That's a failure of character, which can't be fixed.

I guess we agree to disagree, then.
