Scott Walker’s insidious agnosticism [Another liberal's "brain" explodes]
Washington Post ^ | February 23, 2015 | Dana Milbank

Posted on 02/24/2015 10:26:20 AM PST by Cincinatus' Wife

".......But even when prompted with the facts, Walker — in Washington for the National Governors Association meeting — persisted, saying, “I’ve actually never talked about it or I haven’t read about that,” and, “I’ve never asked him that,” and, “You’ve asked me to make statements about people that I haven’t had a conversation with about that.”

This is an intriguing standard. I’ve never had a conversation with Walker about whether he’s a cannibal, a eunuch, a sleeper cell for the Islamic State, a sufferer of irritable bowel syndrome or a grand wizard of the Ku Klux Klan. By Walker’s logic, it would be fair for me to let stand the possibility that he just might be any of those — simply because I have no personal and direct refutation from him.

Walker justifies his agnosticism on grounds that he is avoiding gotcha questions. He caused a furor when he used the same logic last week to avoid saying whether Obama loves his country after Rudy Giuliani, at a dinner with Walker, volunteered his view that Obama does not. “To me, this is a classic example of why people hate Washington and, increasingly, they dislike the press,” he told my colleagues Balz and Costa, two of the best in the business.

This is insidious, and goes beyond last week’s questioning of Obama’s patriotism, because it allows Walker to wink and nod at the far-right fringe where people really believe that Obama is a Muslim from Kenya who hates America.........."

The Obama media is sputtering unintelligibly.

It appears -- lacking a college degree -- Scott Walker remains unknowledgeable about how to convey "I don't know" to this bunch.

Have they asked him ANYTHING about his vision for running this country if he does run for the Presidency, or is the only thing that matters for a potential candidate is what they think of Obama?

Howard Dean is trying to outdo Chris Matthews in the “just make it up” department:

“How unhinged has Howard Dean become? So bad that an MSNBC host had to gently walk him back off the ledge.

On Chris Hayes’ MSNBC show tonight, Dean claimed that Scott Walker says Barack Obama was “born in Kenya.” It took Hayes two attempts to break through Dean’s blather, but eventually he was able to politely point out: “I should note, you mention the Kenya thing, he has not been asked that.”...........

Walker gave the best response possible, not only for the obvious reason but because it’s true. Whether or not a person who claims to be a Christian is a Christian is something only he and God know. Nobody else can. Any other answer would be foolish.

Incredibly so. The term agnosticism is usually used when discussing/describing one's personal lack of or belief in God. The use in this context I'd say was carefully chosen to convey a false image to the idiot reader Walker is NOT a Christian. Utterly devious in my opinion. The last time I espied something similar was in accounts of a Louisiana political race describing his opponent's wife a "thespian."

Strawmen are so easy to light. obozo has stated he is a Christian yet has not demonstrated a single Christian trait so his faith, as his love of country, is properly at issue.

There is no basis to ask if obozo is a cannibal or a eunuch so the analogy is moot. As for being a sleeper cell for ISIS, there is more proof that obozo is one as opposed to Walker.

Everyone - but everyone - at the liberal Post is frothing at the mouth over Scott Walker, one of the most popular and successful conservatives of the past twenty years.

The next thing they’ll ask Scott Walker is....”do you think the President wears boxers or briefs”. He’ll then be pilloried when he doesn’t hazard a guess.

In effect Walker was saying to the media creatures; “I have no personal knowledge based upon conversations with the subject in question.” A good and true response.

Dana Millbank...wasn't he the one who was a theater critic before he was deemed to have become worthy of notice when expressing opinions on matters of national and international importance?

Somebody help me out here!

False analogy.

If the subject is irritable bowel syndrome, and the writer wants to find out whether Scott Walker suffers from that affliction, he should ASK Scott Walker - he should NOT ask Barack Obama if Barack Obama thinks Scott Walker has irritable bowel syndrome.

Furthermore, Scott Walker did not raise the issues of whether Obama loves America and/or is a Christian, so it is both unfair and illogical to demand that he have an opinion on the matter.

Common traits shared by nearly all journalists, regardless of what they cover, are a sense of entitlement and an insufferable arrogance. With this in mind, you see why they are reacting this way to Walker. How DARE he not be led around by the nose into our traps! How DARE he not comply! They’ll come up with whatever high-minded rationalization they can think of. They’ll say he is not being honest with the American people or whatever, but what they really want is for Walker to give them the story they have already written.

The liberal media is fixated on this issue since they beleive his answer, either way, will erode some of his supporter base. The fact he will not give them ammo to attack him is infuriating them to no end.

I was not willing to sign up at the site to throw that comment out there, but if another Freeper wants to do it, have at it.

Dana - please provide evidence that Obama is a Christian who loves America (as founded).

Then we’ll listen to your whining.

BTW, let’s have a look at those college records that were sealed...
