How about real punishment of gun misuse?

Anyone who has a violent conviction and is found with a firearm gets a mandatory 5 full years for simple posession. If committing a crime, the 5 years is on top of the criminal charge. This applies only to violent felons. I'm not real worried about Martha Stewart. Also, this would snare the same folks Bloomey is after.

Bloomburg is wrong as always. The minorities omitting these crimes do not buy their guns through lawful channels. As such, a blanket ban would only hurt the law-abiding minorities who want to protect their families from these vermin.

Reminds me of a debate between Jesse Jackson and Orin Hatch on gun control. Jesse was arguing ad infinitum for it, but offering no facts to support his position. When he finished a particularly long rant, Orin looked at him and said: "If we removed the murders committed by black males between the ages of 17 and 29, our murder rate would be lower than Switzerland." Jesse's response: crickets...

The question here should be: Are we allowed to present facts if they show a demonstrated behavior by a minority group? In other words, are facts racist? It's the same issue with profiling. You profile a group because of demonstrated behavior. At what point do you cross the line between fact-based behavior into racist behavior? I don't know where that line is.

I agree, on the surface this does look good.

But this does not hinder a lawless person from getting guns, it only threatens the safety of law abider’s who have their guns taken away.

A greater problem is the violent backlash of some white guy taking guns away from someone just because they are a minority.

In reality, you are siding with Bloomturd, when what you should be doing is:

-Calling for the imprisonment of violent recidivists

-Looking to have existing laws enforced, where those under 21 cannot be in possession of a handgun

-Enforce anti-gang laws.

What we need is NOT additional laws. The people Bloomturd is referring to are already breaking several laws which are not being enforce. Why would an additional law be enforce if these are already being ignored?
