Limbaugh, Levin differ over Scott Walker candidacy
Media Equalizer ^

Posted on 02/04/2015 10:08:25 AM PST by GulliverSwift

Is a conservative schism forming over support for Scott Walker’s probable presidential candidacy?

Thanks to outspoken recent support from Rush Limbaugh, the Wisconsin governor has seen his potential nomination prospects soar as conservatives look for a strong alternative to the more moderate Jeb Bush.

That led to Beltway chatter about Walker’s new ascendancy and a Drudge Report poll showing him trouncing all others. Forty-four percent of Drudge readers who participated backed him, followed by 13% for Senator Ted Cruz, 12% for Senator Rand Paul and just four percent for Bush. Nearly 450,000 voted.

Politico has continued to track Rush’s sustained praise for Walker, which seems slightly more overt than the talk titan normally offers a GOP contender this early in the nomination process. During Tuesday’s show, Limbaugh doubled-down, calling him “gutsy” and thanking him “for standing up to these people [the left].”

But fellow conservative talker Mark Levin seems not to be on board the bandwagon and has become increasingly outspoken on the matter. Though the syndicated host is adamant that he’s supported the governor through many past battles, he’s unsure that Walker’s stance on illegal immigration is sufficiently conservative. “What’s all of this Scott Walker stuff all of the sudden?” he asked listeners during a recent monologue.

I totally admire what Walker has accomplished. This has nothing to do with him as a Governor. Here’s the problem this election cycle. Conservatives are mad at the establishment, and I am one of the angry. After what the establishment did in Mississippi, and to those NOT supporting Boehner, I have no use for them. After every election they make excuse after excuse to not do what they campaigned on.

First, they needed the house, they would cut all this money in spending. Turns out they cut about 1/10. Then claimed they needed the senate. Before the new Congress is even sworn in, they make back room deals. Far too many of them have mocked the good decent people in the tea party, openly said they would co-op them after they are in dc. The list is endless.

These people have shown time and again they are more afraid of grass roots Conservative types then they are Dems. So, what really is their agenda? I don’t trust them.

Due to no fault of his own, I honestly believe Walker is being used by the gope to get rid of Cruz. That is why so many are looking carefully at every word Walker has said and rightfully so. I, for one will not support the gope. If he has no problem with that group I’m out. So far, his comments about the shutdown and primary opponents aren’t promising.

But please, make no mistake, I am not against Walker, but I am against the gope. The only person who will get my precious vote is someone who has stood up to the republican establishment.

yes, it is..hadn't thought a pro-Walker vote, would be considered a anti-Cruz vote.
time to consider voting for the most conservative.

Whoa..... When did Walker ever say he was for deportation? He said he wasn’t for amnesty but what is his definition for amnesty. Walker has stated in the past that he supports a pathway to citizenship. And he will say that isn’t amnesty. Walker has not told us what that means.

When asked if he was for deportation he didn’t answer yes or no. He said he was against amnesty and was for enforcing the laws. What laws? He didn’t say whether illegals who committed crimes (well actually that would be in addition to the crime they already committed by crossing the border) or what he would do with anchor babies, people who had overstayed their VISAs and work permits. He never clearly answered the question. If I have missed something of course please educate me and provide me the link. I will be happy to go view or read it.

On the other hand, if you have to put words in his mouth and twist yourself into a pretzel to make it mean what you want it to mean you are using emotions rather than logical thinking to select a candidate.

By the way, Walker supported Ryan’s budget.

http://www.weau.com/home/headlines/Walker-praises-Ryan-for-budget-deal-235943251.html

No doubt he will come up with his own budget plan. This would be a place where Walker would be strong as this is his background. He has said himself that he is mainly interested in fiscal issues. Now that he is possibly running for POTUS he will have to start focusing on social issues as well.

He hasn’t laid out those policies yet.

Well he hasn’t announced he is running yet either, but that hasn’t stopped the jealous haters from bashing him. He will have to give more information on his issues. But I love his results. I could care less what a person says. I am interested in what a person does.

You seem so set on Walker due to him taking on the unions. What about Christie?

I don’t find Christie at all acceptable. Walker is not Christie at all. For one thing, Walker wouldn’t hug President Obama.

Walker’s much worse than “noncommittal” on immigration. He wants legalization and citizenship for those already here—which with chain migration will lead to about 60 million new Leftist voters heavily overloading our welfare system to boot.

And then he wants to open our borders to anyone who wants to come here from anywhere in the world!

And Freepers, Rush listeners and followers want to anoint him as president!

Yeah, well let's not let facts get in the way of the flavor of the month Messiah worship.

No kidding! So sick of those that tear down other candidates because of their zest for their own candidate.

I have two or three I'd vote for so no point in getting so danged ugly this early. They just turn people away...

I have loved his results here in WI as well. Like I said, he’s been a great governor. I’ve been paying attention to him since he was first elected to county exec in Milw. Over the years I have gotten the impression that he supports the GOP come hell or high water. He’s a pragmatic party guy. Good for WI but not so good for the country right now IMO.

He hasn’t officially announced yet but I think it’s pretty obvious he is serious about it. He could changed his mind of course.

I have great respect for both Cruz and Walker. The other one, Bush, not so much. And I won’t even say what I think of Hillary. I’d get banned from FR.

If I had to vote today, it would be for Ted Cruz. But the election is still a year and a half away and much can happen in that time.

I don't find him acceptable either. Although I did love his video's taking on the union thugs. But please realize, we all have our line in the sand of things we will no longer support. In the past I have asked many a freeper to tell me what someone would have to do to get you to not vote republican. This is personal for everyone, so maybe cut folks some slack for not supporting your prefered choice.

Or mathematically put, the electorate is 35% Rat, 30% Indie and 35% Republican. If he gets 5% RAT, 20% Indie and 30% Republican, that’s 55%, he’s IN.
. . . the trouble being, TURNOUT. Half of each category doesn’t show up, even on a HIGH turnout election. That says that playing to the middle can be a fool’s errand because you lose conservative turnout faster than you gain Indies.

That was my statement so any comments should go to me, not granny, and I should have stated ‘of turnout’. Sorry.

I’m here in Wisconsin where Scott Walker has done a fine job as governor. IMO, he is not presidential material and appears to flipflop on many important issues Marriage, Amnesty etc. I worked the campaigns of the last two presidential elections. They were not my first choice, although the pick of Sarah made the McCain campaign easier to swallow. I was under the impression anything was better than Obama. I cant tell you how hard I tried to persuade many on this website to get out and vote. I was called many names, swore at a few times and even threated to be “zotted”. I understand. I get it now. The recent house and senate races and the majority gave us all hope of healing our Country and returning to the greatness of America. And what was the first thing our elected officials do...reelect Boehner. Grrrrrr!! I’m done choosing the lesser of two evils. Communist or Communist Light. Throwing my vote away on a candidate who doesn’t deserve it or doesn’t care. No more.

Right. Levin and Limbaugh are in accord. This story is an outright lie.

Walker delivers a “barn burner” talking points speech in Iowa according to those that want to push him and he’s suddenly Moses reincarnated to lead us back to the promised land. He has alot of the same GOPe baggage that McCain and Romney carried.

Citizens-at-birth are eligible to serve as president. Naturalized citizens are not.

Then there are people like me who are both of these things (born overseas to two American citizens, in a US Army hospital- naturalized by fiat when I was four). Not that I'm interested in being president- but my 13 year old daughter could do it better than Obama!
