“A third party is a rabbit hole to nowhere...”

Perhaps ...if it’s political power you seek. If you chose political representation you will vote for the candidate of your choice regardless of party. Only when the majority of voters do so will a representative republic be restored in America.

Right.. If you don't vote for the person you agree with, you will have wasted your vote. Your position is important for future contest choices. Losing today is winning tomorrow.

“It comes from a very ancient democracy, you see...”
“You mean, it comes from a world of lizards?”
“No,” said Ford, who by this time was a little more rational and coherent than he had been, having finally had the coffee forced down him, “nothing so simple. Nothing anything like so straightforward. On its world, the people are people. The leaders are lizards. The people hate the lizards and the lizards rule the people.”
“Odd,” said Arthur, “I thought you said it was a democracy.”
“I did,” said Ford. “It is.”
“So,” said Arthur, hoping he wasn’t sounding ridiculously obtuse, “why don’t people get rid of the lizards?”
“It honestly doesn’t occur to them,” said Ford. “They’ve all got the vote, so they all pretty much assume that the government they’ve voted in more or less approximates to the government they want.”
“You mean they actually vote for the lizards?”
“Oh yes,” said Ford with a shrug, “of course.”
“But,” said Arthur, going for the big one again, “why?”
“Because if they didn’t vote for a lizard,” said Ford, “the wrong lizard might get in. Got any gin?”

Two things stand out in what you said. If you had bothered to watch the Iowa Freedom Summit, you would have seen that the conservative movement had picked up a lot of steam.

And .. during the last election, most of those who got elected on the repub side were CONSERVATIVES.

And .. if you try to split the Rhino’s and the Conservatives, you will most likely find that the Conservatives are much stronger than the Rhino’s. A lot of people don’t see it .. because it’s the other way around in Congress .. but the Conservatives are gaining ground.

If the repubs try to go Third Party in 2016 .. they will lose.

CRUZ OR LOSE ..!!!!!!

This is how the nascent Republican party of 1856 managed to overcome and eventually eviscerate the once-dominant Whig party.

The Whigs were considered to be the “conservative” party of the times, but they cozied up to the position of the Democrats of their day, and while the Whigs did not endorse the issue of slavery, had no gumption to pursue the issue, and in fact, were perhaps so demoralized by the effects of the political battle that led to the Missouri Compromise, which brought in Kansas in as a “free state” and Missouri in as a “slave state”, that they ceased to be a national party after about 1852.

I certainly agree...DC is broken beyond repair...

States must reassert their rights and devolve Washington by force...back into it's proper role

A third party turns this government into coalition government, where now, who would side with who to obtain the majority? Would the Pubes side with the Rats to run out the Conservatives? And so on.

Maybe because we already have a third and fourth and a couple dozen more political parties.

The third would be the Libertarian Party, fourth Green, fifth Constitution and another 28 more listed at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_political_parties_in_the_United_States .

“I’d rather see Al Gore as a third party candidate.”

That’s a great idea! He can be the Green party candidate.

How do we get the dumb bastard to do it?

Well I didn’t bother to watch or even care about it. So, you go do what you want to do and I will do as I want to do. I earned my right to do what I wanted to do in Vietnam, what about you?

We do not need a 3rd party—we need a 2rd party!

I’ve been saying since 2008 that we needed a 3rd party, but most people on every site that I’ve commented on have read me the riot act, saying how we’d never be viable. By now we could’ve made a pretty viable party. You expect that it will be a tough first couple election cycles, but after a while people see that you are a good alternative and start taking interest. By putting it off, we will never be viable. I feel that most people are not hurting bad enough to really make the change. Or, they keep thinking that we CAN change the republican party eventually. I think they’ve made it pretty clear to us that they will not allow that in any way, shape or form. So, why do we wait?

If Clintons brother Jeb is the (R) nominee I hope there is a strong 3rd party challenge as I will not continue to subsidize the liberal cowardice the Republican party continues to push.

We were assured the Republicans would make a stand against obama if we just voted for their sorry lying asses one more time in 2014. They didn’t even make it to the new congress before the white flags went up. I’m done with the Republicans they have to earn my vote and aside from Walker and Cruz the rest are useless as tits on a boar. If they want my vote they better earn it through action because all their talk is hot air.
