The Romney Statement: Not Running. "I’ve decided it is best to give other leaders in the Party...."

I’ve been emailed this text of remarks Mitt Romney will be making to his supporters shortly:

Let me begin by letting you know who else is on this call, besides Ann and me. There are a large number of people who signed on to be leaders of our 2016 finance effort. In addition, state political leadership from several of the early primary states are on the line. And here in New York City, and on the phone, are people who have been helping me think through how to build a new team, as well as supporters from the past who have all been kind enough to volunteer their time during this deliberation stage. Welcome, and thank you. Your loyalty and friendship, and your desire to see the country with new, competent and conservative leadership warms my heart.

After putting considerable thought into making another run for president, I’ve decided it is best to give other leaders in the Party the opportunity to become our next nominee.

” A nation can survive only if it has secure borders, a single culture and a single language. “

Exactly.

Likewise, Jeb Bush is at exact bottom of my list. But my memories from 2012 still haunt me. Romney had a hard time crossing 30% in the beginning, in spite of all his money and additional support from GOPe. Then count how many conservatives were fighting each other.

Depth of field my azz. Just give me ONE conservative running against Jeb Bush. But the ego’s on our side are too big. They will fight each other until the bitter end. Sad but real. The end will be even worse. Jeb will lose to Hillary or whoever the democraps nominate.

If conservatives are smart, they should get behind the candidate who has won the most delegates after SC primary. Can that happen? I will not hold my breath.

...people will nit-pick walker over amnesty and ignore the fact that he wants to secure the border FIRST.

Ahem....see post 74.

“It’s all is about the 11 million [undocumented immigrants],” Walker said. “You hear some people talk about border security and a wall and all that. To me, I don’t know that you need any of that if you had a better, saner way to let people into the country in the first place.”

According to your theory Canada should have fallen into the abyss long ago.

And according to your theory, the world’s largest democracy, India, with 26 languages and multiple cultures and races has no chance. But wait a minute, India just elected the most pro-business prime minister. And GDP is highest ever.

What this country actually needs, is a twenty-five year moratorium on ALL immigration.

We've already got tens of millions here who haven't assimilated, and who are busy creating foreign countries within our midst. If that's allowed to continue, our America will be diluted into nothingness

Bravo! Outstanding post. America will be destroyed if these invaders are not rounded up and deported -- every last one of them.

Thomas Sowell in his writings has brilliantly discussed the destructiveness of just such a situation -- invading cultures with no intention of assimilating.

Huckabee is not only an amnesty pimp and supports commi core, but also is a socialist. Huckabee is no conservative but a con man. The Huckster’s got all the evangelicals fooled with deception. He’s evil and liar, a false prophet and a con man

I would also like to announce that I will not be running for President in 2016.

I realize that this is a great disappointment to my many supporters, since my chances of getting elected President were about the same as Romney’s chances were.

I hope that Romney’s and my announcements will serve as an inspiration to all other candidates who have no chance in hell of getting elected (e.g. Jeb Bush) to make similar announcements.

Don’t give up on Walker. We need to pin him down on his priorities regarding ILLEGAL immigration...

Under no circumstance should we reconsider Walker.

He has expressed his true "feelings" and position on Amnest -- he is for 100% Amnesty.

Whatever backtracking he undertakes will be an outright lie.

Jim,
I’m definitely in for Cruz. Walker is good in a lot of areas, but too squishy in others. Just a few months ago, he was arguing for a path to citizenship. I’m afraid he is going to turn out to be another pro-amnesty pimp.

Yes, we have to get behind one Conservative.

I get aggravated when I see people say I won't vote for this one or that one because they don't agree with everything they believe in. And then I tell my husband "I won't vote for Jeb Bush if he gets the nod, anyone but him". He reminds me of how frustrated I get when I see people say they didn't vote for Mitt and let Obama win. Yet I'm doing the same thing!

I just pray it's anyone but Bush. I don't know what I'll do, I just can't see voting for him. He's way too accommodating to illegals. We'll all have to learn Spanish if he wins.

Bear in mind, all the reasons you support Cruz, all the things you want him to do, Scott Walker wants to do about maybe 20% of those things. Walker has no intention of disturbing the bureacracies one iota. He means no harm to the Free $hit Army. All the gutting of the Constitution under zero? Not a first-tier problem for him. Destroying the grip the Uniparty has on our political process? Not on his honey-do list.

We have some seriously broken things in the US that Cruz wants to fix. We don’t have the luxury of 8 years of a status-quoer like Walker. Who I like, btw.

” According to your theory Canada should have fallen into the abyss long ago.”

100% organic BS.

” And according to your theory, the world’s largest democracy, India, with 26 languages and multiple cultures and races has no chance. “

India is 80% $HITHOLE, and one of the reasons it isn’t 90% $HITHOLE, is our help.

Bother someone else with your “reasoning”

"...he [Walker] told the Journal Sentinel in an interview Sunday he hasn’t taken a position on citizenship for illegal immigrants."

That is about the lamest thing I've ever heard out of the mouth of a probable Republican candidate.

I mean, we've only been dealing with illegal immigration as a MAJOR problem in this country since Reagan signed the amnesty bill in 1986, but Gov Scott Walker is still formulating a "position" ???

Give me a freaking break!

Wisconsin is suing the Federal Government over the executive order amnesty. I don’t think they’d be doing that if they were for amnesty. http://www.jsonline.com/news/statepolitics/scott-walker-clarifies-his-stance-in-illegal-immigration-debate-lm8vluj-194096481.html

So you are proud of the part you played in putting Obama in the WH?

Have you lost reality?

Had 100% of FREEPERs voted for Romney, guess what? (Romney would have lost ANYWAY -- by the exact same electoral votes -- that he lost)

I'd say well over half of FREEPERs live in red states -- states which gave their electoral votes to Willard.

Tell us, had 100% of red-state FREEPER voters NOT voted for Romney (voted 3rd party), would Romney have STILL won those states? (Yup: Obama would not have been helped one iota!)

In the pure blue states, had 100% of FREEPERS voted third party in those states or voted 100% for Romney, it wouldn't have impacted those states one bit either way: Obama (not Romney) would have won those states.

So now we get down the true "purple" states:

The 10 closest states in Election 2012

#1 6 of those 10 "closest states" -- CO, PA, IA, NH, NV, WI had margins ranging from 4.7 to 6.7% (not close, and can't even really be described as "purple" for 2012 POTUS election purposes).

#2 That left VA (3%), NC (2.2%), OH (1.9%), and FL (0.6%).

Since we're not talking about giving Obama votes here -- only subtracting Romney votes -- are you claiming that FREEPERs make up 3% of Virginia; 2.2% of NC; 1.9% of OH; and even 0.6% of FL?

I would say that the ONLY FReepers who had any decent "apologetic" for voting for Romney would be the Florida ones. Everybody else -- for certain -- wasted their vote!!!

And guess what? Even if Romney had taken Florida, he would have still lost!

So your comment is nonsensical from any practical consideration.

Instead, here's the impact of Romney votes by FREEPERS:
* By having voted for a proabortion pro homosexual socialized healthcare candidate who was more liberal than JFK, all a romney vote did from social conservatives was to embolden the RINOs to conclude: "See, we've got even the outspoken conservatives in our pocket. They will fold & vote RINO once we get past the primaries."
* Secondly, having seared your conscience by voting for somebody who favored child-slice&dicing, what's wrong with voting that way in the future? (Moral compromises done in public leads to further ones down the line; why stop proabort voting once knowingly having done so?)
* Thirdly, the accusation that Romney voters threw out on FR threads rebounds right back at 'em: They consistently told us, "If you vote third party, you are wasting your vote." My response? "And why is that wasting your vote?" "Because, they will be a loser." So...such thinking boomerangs back on them: IF you vote for one who will lose (& I knew Romney was a loser), you have indeed "wasted your vote" by sending the EXACT WRONG message to RINOs!
