In December 2012, Jackie broke down. All of a sudden she was going home and none of us knew why. It was right before finals, and I couldn’t believe she was leaving. She was distraught, and only said she needed to go home. Her teachers had given her allowance to take her finals over break. At that point, we knew something big had happened. I didn’t know until this year with the publication of Rolling Stone’s article how bad that time was for her.
Sometime that year I remember her letting it slip to me that she had had a terrible experience at a party. I remember her telling me that multiple men had assaulted her at this party. She didn’t say anything more. It seemed that was all she’d allow herself to say. I wish I had done something sooner. I wish I had known how to help. But I applaud Jackie for telling her story, now two years later. It was a story that needed to be told.

key details which she related were able to be checked,
and invalidated.
Like, the person that lured her to the party was a fraternity member who worked at the natatorium, and the fraternity & university were able to show that no member worked at the facility at that time.

I moved from NY to Boston just before Chuck Stuart killed his pregnant wife in an obvious manner, and made up a lie about a crime that had never happened in Boston. In fact, it never happened in frickin’ Brooklyn, where I was from. As soon as I heard his absurd lie on the news, I said “he killed her”. NOBODY from Boston believed it for a second, because after ten+ years of racial strife Chuck Stuart’s chosen boogieman was something people were prepared to believe.
This story is the same. I went to a school with a strong, strong Greek tradition. I know all about girls pulling the train - I found it disgusting then, and I find it disgusting now, but it happens.
What Jackie claims happened, doesn’t. DOES...NOT...HAPPEN...EVER, not that way. But, her audience, for whatever reason, is pre-conditioned to believe. In some kinda way, they WANT to believe it’s the blond guys with blue eyes that are the danger, when (at UVA of all places) they should be able to recognize the truth. But, sadly, they can’t.
She was failing several subjects. Perhaps that’s why she took off before finals.
Also there’s the inconvenient fact that the fraternity had no pledge class since it was the fall semester. She claimed that the gang rape is a requirement for pledges to become fraternity members.
Again the False but Accurate Story.
Victims everywhere but not a true story to be found. What to do? So let’s make something up and blame some real people. See if anything sticks. If it doesn’t, well then it fits the narrative and we should defend it anyway. Something like this must have happened to someone at some place and at sometime in our history. so this is her story but with a change of characters so that we may punish the innocent.
All hail victimhood.

I haven’t read the original story, but did she visit the emergency room? Did she document the physical evidence of the assault?

Right, so now the father of the girl is claiming his daughter simply got the frat house wrong.
One of her friends who went to pick her up on Sept. 28, 2012, says Jackie said that she was raped that very night but says there was no dress splattered with blood. How could Jackie get a detail like that wrong?
If all of the fraternities check - and I’m pretty sure this will happen now - if they had a member named Drew at that time who worked at the aquatic center and it turns out to be false, then what?
Now there are rumors that she claimed she was raped after her high school prom. This case is getting more bizarre by the minute.
It is clear now, however, that no gang rape of Jackie took place at Phi Psi. Her father is admitting that is the case. Did it happen elsewhere or not at all?
I think she’s probably one of those libs that thinks she’s doing something good by
“raising awareness”
with a “fake but accurate” story.
